Take away the extra bonuses.
Melee and ranged weapons get +1 through +3 to damage.
Armor gets +1 to +3 extra points of physical resist.
No multiple resists. Just physical. Skills and/or spells cover other attack forms.
Imbuing is massively nerfed to comply with maybe a +1 or +2 to a magical form of attack resist.
Remove Night Sight as a property. Let UO be warm and artistic.
Make the three tiers of armor simple: Cloth - Leather - Mail/Plate.
Shields are for blocking weapons. Weapons parry, and do less frequently then a Heater shield blocks.
No Reg suits; No Ref suits; No Luck suits. What drops...drops.
Jewelry might add a property, +1 to +3 or a limited spell function.
Arenas are developed. You enter with base vender gear, no stats bonuses, no blah blah blah. Just you and skill against them and skill. Gold/Reward goes straight to the Bank. You gain titles which can lower the cost of outside-of-arena combat gear.
In game guilds offer a 10% reduction to members for that guild item. Armorer, carpenter, mage etc…
Pets may rebel if forced to do more than 50% of the fighting. They turn on Tamer.
Gargoyles/elves/Samurai are all killed off in a huge 2012 earth-twisting which leaves only humans.
Ethereal mounts go ethereal and reselections are allowed.
Animals form a union against being ridden, except horses and maybe elephants which carry multiple people.
Carriages emerge as a viable way to travel between cities. There is a percentage chance for the carriage to be intercepted and a special instance spawned. You win, you live and continue the journey. If not…you die and your corpse falls to the point of travel at the feet of your OOooO.
Skill cap at 100.
