For years items in UO have not seemed right..
What I mean by this is the weight of items..

IE a wood chair weights 20 stones, yet a stone table weights 1 stone..

What I am asking if for your help in listing items in UO and their weight.
With this info. Maybe we can get the Dev to redo the weight of items.
So please if you have a moment add items and weight's to this post.
I will be going thru and doing an excel sheet inputting the data.
Many thanks for reading, and adding to this post.

Heh, you can start with 10 feathers weighing as much as 10 iron ingots...

Dems some dam big birds.....

That would be 1 stone for each for spreadsheet purposes....

Feathers should be more like 10 to 1 ratio.

They are, as are ingots.

1 feather is 1 stone....40 feathers is 4 stones......
1 Scale is 1 stone...40 scales is 4 stones....

That's confusing.

1 feather should be like 1/8th of a stone *laughs* or something like that.

Why Not..
As the whole weight system needs to be addressed. I think if we can show them things need to be changed. They will be able to better assist us in this.
Look at it this way.. You are dealing with new Dev's that are running with 10yr old code. If I can take a little of my time to assist them in finding things like this to make the game better for not only myself and others. I will do it.
So get on the bus and help out...

If not this stop is for you.

What's heavier 10 stones of feathers or 10 stones of scales?

The big problem seems to be that there is no fraction of a stone when you have a single item. A gem weighs 1 stone. A BoD (which is a piece of paper!) weighs 1 stone, etc. etc. This makes for a silly world.

That would make things easy..
Instead of 1 stoner have .1 .2 .3 .4 of a stone.
Like skill points.

How about this. The daily rare rock from Buc's Den weights 1 stone. Yet an open book weights 5 stones..
Is it made of Gold???

Isn't a stone supposed to be something like 20 pounds?

10 feathers weigh 20 pounds?

Dat's a biggggg dam birdie.

The game is ten years old, probably fairly low priority. Whatever amount of work does get done on UO is for things that affect immediate game play. Such as fixing bugs, adding new content/events etc. Why would you want those things to stop to fix something that matters so little?

Why does it? Say they address weight and make it all realistic - now every time you decorate you need 2+ people to move a stone table? It'd be a riddiculous pita. *You attempt to lift the book case but your back gives way - go have a sit down for 5 minutes and try again later* Or *you attempt to move the forge but set yourself on fire in the process - you died* Fair enough it isn't realistic but then neither is casting magic spells on dragons and running away on a semi transparent mount that occasionally sits in your backpack.

Your a little over board...
Instead of a bookcase weight being say 1 stone it would be 10 stones..
That makes more sence...

Fair enough, but what does it achieve?

If UO has x amount of staff and they work x amount of hours a week I would rather it was spent on fixing things that were broken and affecting game play or on adding new content.

As we all do..
It would just be nice to have things in a more correct perspective.
If this is something they can put on the back burner. So be it. I just want to bring it up to them, on how broken many things are.
This would just be a minor breakage.

They could hire me, i'll do it.
I'll also make house deco tools move north south east west and UP AND DOWN!
WEEE HOO HA!

do stones need to be broken down into percentages? yes. I could be wrong but as per UO lore i think a stone is supposed to be like 14 pounds. but that aside. Stones and items already are borken into percentages, they just dont add up or go into effect until you have alot of the item.

Something you all are overlooking. This game, much like D&D, assigns a "weight" for items but it represents more than 'weight'. It also is supposed to reflect the bulk of an item. Even given that though, there are many items grossly skewed.

I like to think of it as...

"DERT! Dats my you oh!"

This is a fantasy world. I see no hindrance from the current system or any benefit from changing the current perspective to a more "current perspective." Sure it is crazy and stupid, but it is rules of the game set by the Higher Powers and not worth making realistic.

How would you explain the change to the people of Brittania? What is realistic to them, is not necessarily realistic to us. They have poison elementals and Swoop. We only have a Swoop, and to us, it is just a guy in an Eagles Mascot costume.

10 stones here, is not 10 stones there. Tables here do not weigh the same as there. 125 spellbooks here would weigh something and would not fit in a lunch bag. There, they do.
