Need some tech help please?

Is there anyway I can resize UO on a 40 inch monitor so that I can have a little of the black border left to put my journal, spells and abilities on instead of having them all over the playable area?

For the record I am using an ATI 5870 video card running at resolution of 1920 X 1080. The monitor is a Sony TV using the 'computer in' connection. I have tried running HDMI out of card to HDMI to the TV but I didn't really like it that much, it hurt my eyes. I tried the HDMI to DVI and vice versa with similar results.

In the settings in the game menu I have tried every setting. Running full screen makes the game screen so small it's impossible to play.

If you are playing the Classic Client, then no.

In the Enhanced Client, just drag the corner of the window out and use Zoom in or Zoom out.

Thanks for the info Zane. I'm not a huge fan of the 'enhanced' client but might give it a shot then if I can remember how to switch over to it that is. >.<

Hey, I didn't like the EC either when it first came out. I never liked the KR client either.

I finally gave it a true chance and played it. Once I got used to the hotbars and macros and larger screen sizes, I could never go back to the classic.

Eventually, you'll get used to the difference in graphics, especially on a big-screen.

I guess I'll give it a shot. The KR client seemed so clunky although I did like the looting on it better than tossing stuff around on corpses in 2d.

... I do this all the time on my 1600x1280 monitor. You just put it into windowed mode and drag the window out as big as you like. I put all my spells, bars, paperdoll and backpacks in it without an issue.

You can't resize the actual size of the pixels though, so it will still look tiny unless you use a smaller desktop rez.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking for, I'm confused.

I play on a 32, set ur game play window on 800X600 and full resolution 1024x768.

If you switch to the EC, it is highly recommended to use Pinco's UI. Otherwise you probably won't have much fun.

Yes Pinco`s is a must! That is what has made me finally convert to the EC full time. I finally understand how people can say that when they play the CC after spending time on the EC...it just feels old and clunky.... I`ve tried several times to give the EC a chance but just couldn`t make the switch even though it had great functionality.

Pinco`s is a freekin blessing for the EC.... for those that were unimpressed with the EC....try it again with Pinco`s UI. You may be pleasantly surprised.

CHANGE WINDOWS RESOLUTION!

I use CC on 21" Viewsonic. I simply change the resolution settings in Windows and reset them when done.
