Ok I'm positive this has been asked before but it's one of those changes that really needs to be addressed. Not just because of the bane dragon problems on Atlantic (and maybe other shards?), although this is what has caused me to feel the change is needed. From what I understand this problem also happens with I believe Cu's and maybe other tamables?
Once a pet is tamed, the respawn timer needs to start, not once the newly tamed pet has left the sub-server. The only reason I can think of that this is not how it already currently works is the team was afraid of people waiting for respawn and releasing their pet causing an area to be flooded with the mob in question. Which is mute in my opinion due to the fact that this can be accomplished by just leaving the area with the tame and returning in a few minutes.
Now I could be totally off and there might be other reasons why this is how it is, but I have doubts any of those issues out-weighs the current problem that takes place. Is it a coding issue? I just can't figure out a logical reason why we can't have this changed to a system that prevents certain types of grief play. (Although, as I said, I can't think of a reason but a good reason could be and probably is totally obvious to everyone but me.
)
Also another thing to think about would be making a change in trammel at least where if a animal is currently being tamed another player cannot come along and damage said mob to cause the taming action to be broken by angering or killing it.
