I do not believe i read one story about the beginnings of UO that was any good, or compared to my playstyle. Also, i did not read anything from a PK's persepective. I have taken pictures from my days in Beta until now, and if you look at my stratics title, yeah i have accumulated 25 or 30 posts. However, majority of those were of fights. I have So many albums hosted on photobucket and my owner server that i had to start labeling them by season or year. We are talking 25k +. Anyhow i thought it was a injustice for Mesanna and the rest of EA to deny BOTH sides of the game of Ultima Online. In the beginning it was kill someone take there house, take their head, we did it all. I did not want to get that graphic with my story. But after 3 emails and no response from anyone in EA i will post my story on here. Just because if you are a PK, you will enjoy it.

The Wedding crashers!
My account, is now a 182 month, sole owned, and is Beta and I have fine memories of the good old days of player killing from even 15 years ago, however my favorite of all time involves a wedding. By nature, I am a PK..I have Been since day 1, my main character is SixUnder, most all know who I am on any shard. Though now I am based out of about 8 shards.
Now that you know who I am, let me tell you what happened in 2001, towards Thanksgiving. This may be rude to some people, but for me it was one of the funniest things I have ever done in this game, it even surpasses my 16,000 long term murder counts on SixUnder.
As the story goes, at that time there was a guild on Baja called Spawner's Inc. The largest guild in all of UO. At that time their member count was way way over 500 and this was right after aexapnsion, just cant remeber which one. They still exist today not anything like then though. Anyhow, 2 of the people in their council were to be married in game and I was a member of El Cartel. There was only 11 of us, max... ever. Anyhow we got word of the wedding and did all we could to find out where it was being held because of course, we wanted to crash the party. Anyhow we found it was to be held on a Saturday Night in Magincia in the town square. Mind you this was 2001, way before any of the invasions, destruction etc. Magincia was a completely different place back then.
At this time, we knew that we were kind of screwed until our GM Vile came up with the greatest idea ever. See at that time, reds could not be in town.....g-wacked instantly. So he devised up a great plan, which included each of us buying a energy bolt scroll and making a newbie character after our main's name with 50 magery, and 50 eval.
We proceeded through the moon gate in Magincia, and crept our way over to the center of town, and also not to be seen. We had a 12th man that night, who was not part of guild but a friend of ours in stealth mode at the wedding site and in our team speak giving us up to the minute details. Anyhow, Vile says everybody pre-cast their scrolls, he then says on 3 run up to the altar you 6 guys hit the groom, and you 5 hit the bride. So we did, and killed them both, and of course they were angry. Foul language was flying from each of them. It had to be best wedding crash of all time considering there was in the neighborhood of 150-200 SI members present. They were in total shock and disbelief...but that is why we were who we were, and why each member is as good as they are today. Of all of my thousands of kills and raids on so many shards, not one will ever top that one. Bride and groom down baby!
---------------------------------------------

How that story was not better on my original shard of Baja where i have 2 grandfathered castles and a keep, I have no idea. I do not know what shard they submitted it on, doesn't matter. My 2 castles on GL, and keep on Atl and the hundreds of billions i have made in this game are priceless. Just as are the memories.

For whatever reason, that night my pictures are lost or I just can not seem to locate them. either way, i do have one from our scout of them setting up things before the wedding started. However, it doesn't show anything.. maybe ill get more time to research my old hard drives or photobucket folders and be able to find them someday. But, who knows.

Back in the days of "back in the day" Pacific maintenance was at noon CST. When the shard went down, we would make newbs on other servers and each of us would get like 3 or 4 greater exp pots, and crowd around someone at the bank, dbl click them all, and get the same effect =).

I hate to say but really at the end of the day the wedding might have left most peoples minds but I am 100% sure that anyone who was there and saw it never has forgot what happened. Even the bride and groom might have been super pissed but I bet they slightly up turn thier lips at the memory now.

Aye. Some notorious PK that I have known since BETA were so funny and clever, one had to laugh at their antics and admire them for their cleverness. They made surviving a real challenge for a PVP character like myself.

You write this like you want a trophy for bouncing a group of trammies, bravo. I'm rather confident with your 182 months of experience that you're still a garbage player that I would dispose of in 30 seconds during any era of this game.

no, if you have to post on here and boast about killing skills post AOS, you are nothing.
This was a story about a night in front of over 150 individual players in a guard zone, all on blues. And happened to be a wedding, so ya know who the tagerts were going to be. If you did not like the story, the blood of killing in UO has left your veins, or you have no sense of humor.
It was pure fun, killing people and taking the keys to their house. That was fun, or how about emptying someones bank box out after a kill, with their head in your pack. THAT was what pking was.
This story was posted to prove a point, other than that no one cares what any of you newbie posting accounts have to say. Remaking stratics accounts because you have been banned is all we need to know. You can get that info from your avatar.

agree, this was just what i wrote though. hundreds i could have written but just one to turn in.

unlike one guy winning 3 robes on ATL, or people turning in X amount of stories.

it was funny, laugh, move on.

What is it exactly you are going on about?
I believe SixUnder is pointing out that no one has been telling player killer stories. He is simply trying to get the ball rolling, so to speak. I prefer not to put down anyone's right to express themselves. This could get out of hand if everyone starts arguing against his idea of fun.

I wouldn't find PKing fun nor tricking others. UO gives us the tools to use, as I was once told, and it's up to each player to decide how he/she wants to use those tools.

Since, the real world is much like UO, why not let SixUnder and others post their PK stories. It could become an interesting insight into how some minds work. I've often wondered how Player Killers think - which is very apparent in the preamble and story SixUnder has written.

- - just a thought.

I'm not sure he's saying ohhh we are leet über PKers..I think it's more of an amusement..some people enjoy RPin weddings in a pixel game..others enjoy killing the noobs that RP the wedding..to each their own I say...

Some of my more entertaining moments were stealing bandages weapons and pop boxes and enjoy watching the skilled mages at the time kill those people..to me watching them res and say omg I had 3 piles of 25 what happened..and I'd smirk..that to me was fun alas I was also 13 at the time so that would be..and now 15 years later those moments still bring a chuckle and a sign of damn UO was so much fun back then..but as all things they grow and mature..as I think many people should try and do..he's sharing one of his most memorable moments not yours or for that matter anything that you even think would be just..but fortunately for him..it's "his" memorable moment..so I say act your age and instead of expressing your dislike for his story act like the adult your supposed to be and don't say anything if you can't say anything nice

Adults don´t be proud of being such a negative, destructive personality. And adults don´t have such a childish humor... It´s not us that are immature, but I think most of the readers understand that...

While I don't think I could do such a thing I did find the story rather entertaining. Always fun to read from the point of view of the pks. Some of my great memories usually center around fantastic steals which I'm sure would be victim to such pointless negativity as well. Such negativity gets old though.
Everyone has their own particular play-styles and one of the great things about UO is that it accommodates such a wide variety.

It is very apparent the PK are not coming forward to post their stories in this thread because of the negative responses that their stories would generate.

I can't say I blame anyone for feeling the way they do about PK., Even I have a hard time holding back, but again, it would be interesting to read their stories, provided everyone held their tempers. haha

Thanks, Galen!

People like him were the reason why I left UO in those "glorious" times, which - to me and many others - were simply annoying. Why should I play a game which is as evil and bad as real life is? Why should I pay for content in which I get harrassed, killed, robbed and so on? And how should I get a good feeling after an evening with UO if people like him were running around that draw their amusement out of making others sad?

Thanks for Trammel and thanks for keeping these people out of Tokuno, Ter Mur, Malas and so on. Happy that they have to stay in this hopeless and devastated place named Felucca, where they can show each other who has the longest genital and who is the meanest person.

I can now live my hobbit-life with craftig, designing houses, occasional monster hunts and following the virtues which have been guiding my RP-life since the 1980s, since U5, U6, U7. UO is now so much better...

P.S.: To make one point clear: I don´t dislike PVP, I even don´t dislike PKs, if they are knightly and ress you afterwards and let you go - I dislike people who show off with what they do and how they grief others. And there is a big difference between PVP, even PKing, and being a loud, unfriendly, selfish, childishly proud person that loves to make others sad.

Why-ever should we withhold our tempers?

They don't, or such actions as described in the story would never occur to start with.

Let alone other instances, such as the time a PK on GL chose to celebrate the erection by Mesanna of a monument to Kazola's Tavern (a very old and historical establishment) by bragging of having PKed Kazola. Or a time on LS when a bunch of PKs (from guilds that liked to present themselves as vicious competitors), got dressed in dull copper plate and blue cloaks and ran around the Yew Moongate with halbreds speaking in faux-RP speak.

six under is uo pvp.

He was one of a few who showed me how to pvp when i started years ago. I would die over and over and over but never gave up. People like him make noobs into pvpers. As far as I know he is the only one left from that time. There was something about how they taught you, about how it was, that made you want to earn their respect and not give up. They make pvpers, and understood that by spending that time with me, a complete and utter noob, that I would be the future of pvp. Not such a great thought now, but it was the way they went about it. Today people do not try to help each other to get better. Say what you want to about six under, it doesn't get much better then him.

Great story, pking can be an art. Certain people deserve to be face planted, part of why I enjoy fel so much it usually requires you to act right. The part that's so funny to me is the planning involved. You couldn't just roll in and plow threw them, you had to consider the options and act accordingly. Pure hilarity.

For those that failed to see the humor I think you failed to see the magic that you all sucked out of UO. You all failed to see that in the UO of old there were hundreds of things to do beyond playing the game in a classicly defined way. This group played to be the killers while others played to be on the side of good. It is a game and these guys simply played it, tough luck.

Anybody else find 2 contradictory sentences there? each to their own but then theyre "noobs" for RPing and then "dont say anything if its not nice"... but you just said RPers are noobs?

As for the story, from a "trammie" or "noob" point of view I neither liked or disliked it. Its what happened at the time... ok if I had been at the wedding I dont think id av been impressed and would have quite gladly participated in bashing the griefers. But dont we all have memories of this kind of thing happening? It was an interesting read either way, everyone plays their own way n thats one of the ways he plays, all respect to the guy, not my way of having fun but then us noobs prefer different things. To be honest I think all memorable moments should have got a robe (since theyve all got worth and isnt it about remembering what made uo great for everyone?). Least they could have published everyones for us all to read.

Its easy for people to compare others to themselves and determine they must be crazy for enjoying an aspect of a game that you don't. How about we just let people revisit memorable moments without judging them through a lens of your own preferences and refrain from attacking them.

well done man, Althoug i have not done much PvP (something i am working on at the moment) I have always loved the PK element of the game... back in the day I would always stand and fight rather than run like a pansy. As far as PK's at player events it should be a must.. when I played on europa in 2000 I was in a guild led by a guy called Clembrodus or something, they liked to RP... I didn't but it was a fun guild.. they had the weddigns and stuff going on and we ALWAYS were fielding our own "guards" we planned on the PK's coming and they never let us down... it played perfectly into the storyline they had written for the guild in which they were a group who were hunted by a group of assassins who wanted to kill them to the last because of secret knowledge blah blah... point is. PK's made that guild fun for me... without em I wouldn't have been in the guild...

I am working on a PvP char at the moment, I have relocated to felucca (just near despise on GL if anyone wants to stop by) I will be running a shop shortly also but as it stands I am still in training on my would be PK.

to get back on topic.

Nice story, and to you and all the other PK's... keep the blood flowing!

The game was nothing but kill or be killed in the 90's sir. There is no way to describe the way my fellow murders and I played and competed then. Some of us still do it now, but with a totally different rule set. Including so much new jazz because of expansions that at some points players with no talent what so ever could compete. In the end this is a game, built on the ideas of one facet, felluca. If you don't like it, sorry to hear that..but it is the truth. Without people such as myself to play this game, UO would of ceased to exist long ago. Remember, we were here before trammel, ish, malas, tokuno, and ter mur.

These lands did not come until, years AFTER we established the game, and how things came about. People knew this coming into ultima. I have no problems with RP in this game, they die just as well as someone else i kill in felluca. Just remember, we were here first and that this is just a game.

And indeed the lifestyle you proudly represent, and describe with near-shameful accuracy, is the reason they had to make Trammel to begin with. Remember that UO was launched in 1997, Everquest in 1999, and UO:R in 2000.

That was not a coincidence. The business model you represent was failing, and remains failing. 12 years later we're still here, and Shadowbane, the first in a long line of PvP-based games that was supposed to kill UO, has failed. UO has at this point had Trammel for far, far longer than it was Fel-only.

Everquest has near 36,000 likes on Facebook, UO just shy of 20,000 (not too far over half), Darkfall (like Shadowbane a PvP-based game that was supposed to kill UO), has a mere 3,600. Facebook likes are far from a perfect metric, but still useful.

And that is why Trammel was essential for the multitude of players who did not like playing in a world where they were always the paying victims. Of course you understand there is a warped side to that side of role-playing when others learn the art but don't know how to role play.

Facebook likes are far from a perfect metric, but still useful.

who cares about people liking things on facebook? im not social media guy. Those numbers mean nothing. Point blank before trammel came alongthe game was not dying there people everywhere, much more than there is now.

And as much as you or any PK would like to take credit for the phenomenal success of UO when it first launched as the first large online MMORPG of it's kind...that logic isn't cogent, as Galen pointed out.

The game would have probably been wildly successful with absolutely no PKs or non-con PvP at all. In fact...EverQuest WAS wildly successful...more subs than UO...in an excessively short period of time. And that game didn't have you, or any of your PK friends out PKing people, making the game more "Fun".

Those are simple, irrefutable facts.

You can interject your own lofty opinions of how much your 16K murders benefited the game, but numbers don't lie. Your opinions can't be backed up with fact.

UO endured the PKs and rampant griefing that was UO at first, and as soon as they could, that changed. Especially when they saw that other, newer games, like EverQuest, were kicking UO's butt. A poorly done change, but a change that kept folks like me around. For better or for worse.

I disagree. Nothing built community or encouraged players to band together than the antisocial play of others. I'll agree that this is not for everyone and the Trammel ruleset was necessary to retain customers once the other options with PvM only game play emerged. I don't think the game that came out in 1997 was good (and certainly not polished) enough to be wildly successful as a point and click adventure with rudimentary chat abilities alone though.

Who cares? Doesn´t impress me granpa - not at all. Nor does your "PK"-codex-lifestyle-art-blah impress me.

People who draw their amusement out of harming others will be disgusting to me forever, regardless what you are talking about. And the other respondents are right: Without Trammel there wouldn´t be any UO anymore. Just the hand full of killers like you having fun on a freeshard or in another game... The original release wasn´t good at all and the game became better and better...
