Go ahead and make a post on the Siege forum. Tell ´em I said it was OK. :D

As long as you only make one thread and keep all your questions in it there shouldn´t be any problems considering it´s about PVP.

And who knows. The answers might even get you interested in trying out Siege...
So I am doing just that! :) I am making 2 characters on Siege, 1 mule and 1 fighter.

Ok I have been playing since 2000 but am quite noobish when it comes to PvP. I have done quite a bit in Fel but never got into the PvP scene but I am ready to give that a try now. I have so many questions that I don't know where to begin. I guess template is the best way to start.

First off let me say that I don't think that I want to put in all the mind numbing hours to be a tamer. I have 3 on my home shard and that is more than enough for now. I would like to be able to do some higher end PvM with this character but want to be able to initiate some attacks as well. Do I go with a pure PvP template and hope to be able to do some higher end PvM or do I go for a hybrid template?

Poisoning? Is this still viable for fencers or not worth the skill points anymore?

My computer is a nice gaming computer and I have a solid 8mb internet connection and live on the east coast so lag shouldn't be too much of an issue I hope. Do I go for a ranged fighter/caster or melee for now?

Armor, what is more important, resists or other stats?
Weapons, besides SSI and possibly UBWS, what should I look for?

I have just come back in December after being gone for 3 years and was never that good at PvP to begin with. What tips and advice do you have? I know some depends on what skills you have but some are also universal. Thanks!!

Welcome to Siege!

Much easier to train a tamer here than any other shard. Once you hit 70 in animal taming, all you have to do is wait 5 minutes, tame a g heart, you automatically gain 0.1, wait 5 minutes and repeat.

As for templates, if you really want to pvp it's best to get as close to a pure pvp template as you can. But you can always build a pvm friendly pvp template, OR use soulstones like a lot of people do.

Example - a popular pvp mage build is mage/med/eval/resist/wrestle/parry. With four soulstones you could swap out resist/wrestle/parry for taming/lore/vet and be a full tamer.

Another good pvp build is the pure bushido archer - archery/tactics/anat/heal/resist/bushido. Can easily swap out heal or resist for chivalry (or even just work up chivalry each time) for pvm with only 2 soulstones.

I say pick what you like, mage, warrior, archer and build around there.

Poisoning is pointless - if you want to poison pick up ninja instead. Zero lag allows you to pick any path for a pvp character.

Armor - depends on your skillset. Most people shoot for high resist, then MR and/or LMC. Difference between someone in all 60's resist (GM Suit) or all 70's resist, is 25% less damage - that's big in pvp.

Weapons - you want enough SSI to max out your swing speed (as an archer the more the better as you rarely ever max out swing speed). From there people like in order of preference - hit spell (usually fireball), hit lower defense, hit lower attack, and balanced rocks on bows.

PVP tips - practice practice practice.

First thing you gotta learn is not to stumble. When someone attacks you don't freak, just take care of business.

Second thing, learn how to heal. Gotta keep yourself alive #1. The second you take damage you should automatically be hitting that bandage self macro without even thinking about it. Second you get poisoned hit that drink cure potion. Just comes with practice.

From there, based on your template, once you can keep your head cool, and learn how to keep yourself alive, you'll learn what works best in killing someone.

I agree with stinky pants. Poision is by far not worthless.

Ive recently dusted off my nox dexxer on great lakes and youll be suprised how fast somone can run through 50 cure pots. The fact that nox only takes 4 mana with 40 lmc you can pretty much chain nox unstop with a reasonable suit.

The most importan thing when it comes to your suit is lower mana cost. Then i would shoot for stat increases with mana regen.

You fight someone with pots your worthless...not unless killing people that dont use greater cure pots viable pvp...

have u fought anybody recently with gm poison? ninja stars are worthless compare to level five nox, throw it on a decent template and u have just created a pain in the as bastage to fight, but im not going to argue about it in forums... so shut the **** up

I am working on:

120 Archery
120 Chiv
120 Bushido
120 Resist
120 Tactics
120 Meditation
--------------
720 Total Points

I am having a blast with this template! I too am not very experienced in PvP, but this template is keeping me alive longer, and once finished training, the moreso!

I feel I am getting better, I was able to SQUEAK out a victory over Bruin the other day, and he is a good fighter.... of course it took about 20 minutes of battling... maybe he ran out of pots, and I dont require them... I'm not sure what happened.

I wear GM armor, and I dont use pots ( as I dont use UO Assist, they are too difficult to manage clicking in my backpack on the run ). With 2/4 casting I can easily cure poisons and heal, and Confidence heals a ton on the run. The Resist keeps me from having to carry a trapped box, as that would hinder me the same as potions. It is very nice for PvM too!

90 tactics is all thats really needed, but its tough to find anything worthwhile to spend 30 points on ( especially when I have 20 from JOAT, netting only 10 if I started another skill ), so 120 to increase damage.

Let me know when you want a blue bug and a fire bug. I would also be happy to take you farming with me since my pets kill most stuff to fast to loot it all, and I don't use leather.
