Travel. It's something we all have to deal with in life and, sadly, in WoW.

What public transportation methods are there from city to city and how do you find them?

The only public transportation is griffon within continents or a boat between continents. If you are going someplace that has no griffon stop, then I'm afraid your feet is it. Unless you can con some nice warlock into summoning you.

Ferry Boat is in Darkshore, Menethil Harbor and a couple other locations

There are Griffons in every major city and one griffon per "sub server"

Ie, Goldshire doesnt have a griffon because Stormwind does, but Sentinel Hill, Lakeshire, Darkshire, Auberdine, Ironforge, etc have points.

Griffons are pretty easily found. If you need help, let me know what server you are on and I would gladly help show you. Or perhaps I should write a guide on Griffons.....

I can always tell when one of my Guildy's gets onto a Griffon.

As nice as he is, he starts complaining in guild chat about the flight. Not the lack of an inflight movie, or that they're serving peanuts again, but the time.

Here is his complaint, and it is driving him away from this game the higher in levels he gets. He has an addon, and I am sure that there are a lot of these that can do this, but his times, to the second how long each flight will take out of his game play.

Angered, when he boards a Griffon, this is what he says, everytime. "Well time now for my load screen to kick in. 12 minutes, 46 seconds to fly to my destination. You know, these griffons are just Looooooong load times with a view as you wait."

It'll drive him away coming from UO and their Recalls and instant Teleports, even for a Warrior like him, just toss in a touch of Magery and Zap!

Even I was fascinated by the flight the first one or two times I took the trip. But one year later, I wonder just how many DAYS I have lost flying from one point to another.

My wish? Give us two Hearthstones. How will that fix anything? Man, think of it. One set to the area where you are currently adventuring, mine currently on Brumble is Everlook. The other? Set to my home city. In my case, I have always called Stormwind my home. That way I can hearth to my adventure area, or if I need to meet up with a guildy to help him/her, I can hearth to SW and be there in a flash.. 2 Hearthsones. That is what I want. lol

/end rant

My warrior in UO walked everywhere. He rarely rode a mount and didn't use gates. It was more fun that way.

After the annoying loads and kicks from the server of SWG I have found the WoW rides to be a nice change.

Think of them as mandatory "Get up, stretch and relax your eyes" breaks.

I'll talk about add-ons in another thread. ;-)

Walked? Or ran? Tell the truth now.

Mine rode horses. They never used recall (and still don't). Most don't even have magery.

I find bird rides are excellent times for taking a bio break, grabbing a beer or a snack, arranging pack items, running through the quest log and planning out the next few things I want to get done, and sometimes I just move the camera around and look at the terrain from different angles.

Sucks about the peanust, though.
