man i gotta say that wow song blows. that sounds like something id take a 10 second clip out of and use it as music for a cut scene in LOTR the movie when their riding horses, or music for credits of a bad action movie.
I mean it sounds nice, but nothing special for me at all.

Stones however is Jesus in the key of D. It is a song written musically by David "Iolo" Watson, an Ultima charactor with an Earthen counterpart, and the lyrics written by his wife, god rest her soul. Its a song about the stones surrounding stonehenge on the planes of wiltshire. cross refrenced to the eight virtues and stones surrounding moongates. So to me, Stones = win. I learned to play it on guitar, the other song makes me wanna watch the ending top gun, not learn the violin/synthesizer.
I dunno. Stones sounds like it could of been done in 5 mins on a midi keyboard.

Well thats how most of us found it. were talking ooooold gameing here. the song might has well been introduced as console beeps. it was however written as a two track Lute tune. For me, its a very melodic song in its modern versions, and still just seems less generic to me. I love the lyrics as well. The song has had an over neat inpact. Like the memorial in ilshenar, and its place in hearts.

Stones is simple...yet Epic.

Everytime I recall into my keep...I start my Dawns Music Box Stones song.
Yes...I love it.

Stones. I have no interest in WoW whatsoever. I have abiding interest in the Ultima series from whence Stones came and remember having to learn to play it on the PC keyboard as part of one of the U6 quests. I will always love the tune, the background story and its meaning in UO history.

Cool story bro,

I hope there are alot more fanboys like you playing UO, else the game won't make it past this year.

even if you hate wow, you have to admit this is pretty cool. its an in game event that you can trigger, like i did in the video, and they also play at random times in the worlds end tavern in shatterath.

pretty sweet
ha ha ha! i wish orc forts would randomly do that when you ran by them in UO.

I never understood that mentality. The music in both games is great. How bitter a person are you that you don't enjoy this great music that was written for these games. I know it's cool to say I turn off the ingame music when i play, but come on guys.
Wow I hope I dont sound like a horrible person but, I do like the WoW over the UO one but you have to remember the Uo Song was done what? 12years ago? Wow had more music features at their disposal.

The Wow song seems more intence with battle and power so prolly why I like it more but, if I had to go with storyline and memories and Good Vs Evil with Politics, orcs, Savages, Questing, Trolls, Paladins, Necros etc I would go with Stones.

The song does remind me of when I first started ultima online and that big old chest opened and I thought those color buttons were the coolest ever and the chest cloth.... omg im a loser.

The music is part of the character of any game.
However, I turn off the UO music for one main reason.
If you're staying in one area, doing something, the same track will loop and loop and loop.
When you enter an area, the character piece should play for the purpose of establishing the scene. Then, when it's finished playing, it should go away.
If it doesn't, it becomes as irritating as the swamp ambience.

Edit:
Also, the comparison is not a good one.
Stones, by its nature, is a humble character piece. While Shaping the World is far grander, and more impressive.
Without a personal preference for Stones, people are more likely to go with the piece that is more inspiring

I have music turned off. I like the music, but after logged in for more than 5 minutes, the music gets "corrupted" and garbly. Sounds possessed and scary. Been that way for a long time for me.

So I go without music, though I wish I could listen to it again.
