Multiple Accounts

Hello Everyone,
I am back to UO after years of bad mmos and I currently run only one account. I am thinking of starting a new one but it will take me 4 years until I can have nice characters with 720 skill caps.

Running templates without skills on the jewellery is my preference so I am wondering what are some solid templates that will do with only 700 skill points.

I have about 40 mil in the bank and I already have fully trained mules so I can afford to spend some money on training and I can make nice suites for them but the skill cap is really bugging me.

I think the only failure of UO is new player experience. Four year limit on the skill cap is ridiculous. Even if you work hard and farm for gold so that you can somewhat afford things. This you can not change for four full years. Most mmos don't have a life cycle of four years.

What I refuse to do is spend $400 for the account. Game should not be about $$ but the experience.

Let me know what you think.

Try looking at Imbuing. It is easy to go over the 700 (new) and 720 skill cap.

I agree with you, that extra 20 skill points for veterans, and some of the other rewards that give vets PvP and PvM advantages, not just status, were very bad for the game. But that's the Age of Shadows dev team for you. The lead dev of that era admitted that he didn't play UO but he was a big fan of Diablo 2, so we ended up with UO becoming a lot less like the origanal UO and a lot more like the competition. Not much we can do about it now.

Isn't it about time UO did away with this disparity? Start everyone with 720 skill points.

Many will argue it's not that big of a deal, "you can make it up with jewls."

Well, if it's not that big of a deal, why argue against it?

I believe that the extra 20 points is a mute point tbh. Not that many builds really need that extra 20 points and I run pure skill toons normally (On accounting of being an old CoRE RP'r and all my toons had to have pure skills and no runic or magical stuff).

Some examples of templates I use:

Mage/Necro:
Magery - 120
Resist Spells - 120
Evaluate Int - 120
Necro - 120
Spirit Speak - 120
Meditation - 100

May be an old template it is still viable. I dont need legendary meditation as I'm always in the Wraith form so leech mana at every kill while I spam wither etc. If you wanted to max out then you could change magery to 100 and make Meditation 120 and use an Orny to top up the Magery.

Mage/Mystic:
Eval Int: 120
Magery: 100
Focus: 120
Mystic: 120
Meditation: 120
Resist Spells: 120
Meditation: 120

The primary damage dealer here is with the Mystic spells, while the Magery acts as a secondary skill. If skill really mattered here then an Orny would give you that extra 20 points anyway.

I dont really have any set templates for a Sampire or Tamer yet as I've not really done any training for ages. But those two above with jewels and suit that adds SDI, LRC, LMC and luck will make you as powerful as any vet with 720 skills.

So really as Iv'e said the extra 20 points are just a moot point. Nice as they are, they are not needed to make a killer template.

with imbueing its easy to overcome the lack of 20 points I run 800 points on one char with items and jewelry, and over 750 on two others. just buff with items and buy a charger if you fell the need to ride an ethy.
