why isn't there a message of the day? or a message sticky, for guildmasters to leave messages for members?

it would be ultra useful to be able to have a window pop up for people when they log on, with a custom message. and then the user could check 'dont display again unless this changes'

That would be great; kind of like the party-chat options. Until then, one of my GuildLeaders will change the title of the character to read "See Me" or "Find your GL". This may help you in a pinch. Some Guilds ask for e-mail or ICQ (or something similiar). Bulletin Boards allow me the luxury of staying in character. Just a few suggestions....*smiles*

It would be neat if we had some type of message system within the Vendor system also. It would be nice if all players with vendors at my house gave me an email or ICQ, but all do not. I have players with vendor contracts at my house and would sometimes like to get a message to them, but other than seeing them in-game, leaving a book on the ground, or posting to the message board--I can not contact them. Som reliable form of communication in both the Guild and Vendor systems would be helpful.

Aye guilds could use a little love.
Many are left to their own devices to communicate and many do this well through forums and such, but a in-game method would be well appreciated.

Large or small, PvM or PvP, RP or not, a good guild can keep players in-game and having fun. I am not sure if I would be such an avid player (or even playing still for that matter) if I hadn't joined a guild and had so much fun with my mates.

Time for some guild functions love?

I love the idea of a guild leader message option.

I'd also like to brainstorm and throw out some of these ideas...
Join on dates for members list.
A search by title function (not just a sort by)
A private member to member guild chat function (not just general guild chat for those time you want to talk someone through something but don't want to dominate GC)
Guild roster export

Just to add a few off the top of my head. But don't want to derail the post or the OP's original suggestion which would be great.

Bulletin Boards, Ballot Boxes or Books all set to guild and locked down at the guild house. Log-in go to chat and see if there is a chat with your guild title in there. Guild meetings once a week.

Your point is taken. There are many methods and ways to accomplish guild communication but none so that would effectively reach 100% of your guild members without them having to follow any protocol except logging on.

So lets add more things for the clients to do. How about we ask the Devs to fix all the bugs first and not add any more things that might cause more bugs. It is not that hard to go to a guild house and do these or better yet just log out at your guild house and check them when you log in.

I dont know if the EC has it or not. Since they have implimented things like the UI that DaoC has and Warhammer I couldnt see why they could do the guild icon like they do in War. In that, players can make announcements of guild functions they may hold on a certain day and time. Gives players notice in advance on events. You can alo see who is on also like we do in UO.

Why does making a suggestion for an improvement or idea always end up with "Devs to fix all the bugs first" comments? Do you think just because someone comes up with a suggestion or idea that they want to put out there, the Devs drop what they are doing and go to work on that idea? I didn't realize that a suggestions on these boards goes automatically on the developers' todo list. Let people post up ideas and explore them, if the dev team think they are worthy then they will explore them and decide time and resource allocation as they see fit, otherwise they end up on each of our "Man I wish UO could do this" list, and it stays there till someone else brings it back up. But there is no harm in approaching an idea on these boards. And just because you don't see it as a valuable use of resources, doesn't mean it isn't.

I am glad you have found ways around this, I have found ways around this also and so has my guild. I have also found there could be a use for this, and don't mind signing on with someone else who approached the subject.
