Money Roll

I would love higher increment checks to counter the trust you have to put into people to by anything of great value. If I want a luna house I've got to transfer minimum 500mill before I get the house. That's ridiculous. That's a large ass amount of money to trust someone with in return for a house. Either make a banking system that has a gold counter in it tha tyou can pay with or increase the checks.

Gold farming will always be around. It's players play style. You can't beat it. You lower the amount of gold and the gold farmers will still be at work. Everything is the same, it's just the numbers are lower. What was worth 1million before is now worth 100k. However, that 100k is just as hard to make as that 1 million was. It's all relative.

I just absolutely hate the trust factor. You hear horror stories all the time about someone getting ripped off in high stakes trades. It's ridiculous.
*bing*
HOPEfully the "new vendor" system that has been bandied about ... about ...
Will have a built in 9-10 digit transaction space ... and you(the seller) put a scroll(deed) on the vendor and set a price.
the "buyer" could then stack either one mills on the vendor ... OR
drop as many as he has into the "new expanding bank foliofolder" (no items but ONE: total gp deposited)
.... hehehehe
safe, secure ... no drag and drop, no temp house loaded with checks, no mule trains of check laden jackasses cluttering up the lanes ... err packmules ... yeah ...:mf_prop:

no money belts thank you very much
unless you will allow a thief to lift it ...

the best possible thing to do would be to make an acct balance that all characters on the acct could access. no more trading checks etc. no more dupable items. I really like the money roll idea but the honest truth is that it makes gold easier to dupe when the next round of dupes hit. This is not to whine about dupes or exploits but more to say hey they exist and whatever changes are made should minimize the impact.

After playing for so long, I am at the point now that I can bypass NPCs altogether.

The only thing I've gotten from a NPC this YEAR is the new Britannian boat.

Anything I need, I can get from another player. Most ppl I know operate this way, so how is any adjustment, up or down, on NPCs price/buying/selling going to do anything?

I'm sorry. I just don't see it.

When I personally know a dozen people that have 5 billion + in gold, the problem isn't how much mandrake costs on a NPC.

It's easy money for scripters. They probably even have things setup to buy and sell to NPCs at various prices, and may not even have to spend the time gathering resources to sell to NPCs. They can just play the buy low/sell high game instead.

It's insane that I can spend 10 minutes at the Miasma spawn and make maybe 50k gold with no danger. 5 or 6 hits, it's dead, and another one spawns instantly. And that's with a pure warrior, not a sampire. The devs decided to make even the ML low-level monsters so profitable that we had to get the expansion. A lich lord is more dangerous than Miasma, but pays a fraction of the gold. That dev team gave us a great deal of new content with ML; they didn't have to finish destroying UO's economy to get us to buy it.

I have 2 characters' banks devoted to gold checks, and vendors have more gold on them. Any solution to the gold problem would need to address the fact that I'm a pauper compared to many veteran players. Whole castles are devoted to storing gold checks.

At this point, I would favor just dropping the checks altogether, letting banks hold any amount of gold. That would free up storage for more useful stuff. After all, a conjurer's garb is worth maybe 40 million, slither's 75 million, a crimson cincture is 20 million, novo bleue sets are 50 million, etc.; a well-equipped character may wear several hundred million in equipment. If one of my characters sold his suit, just the logistics of storing all those gold checks would be a mess. Then there's the fact that a small house in Luna will sell for 500 million gold or more.

Putting the gold genie back into the bottle would be hard at this point. A good start would be:
1. Reduce all gold and item drops.
2. Make some gold sinks. VOLUNTARY, not taxes or anything. NOT combat. Give us something we would want in return for our gold. Here are some examples:

A bad idea: new weapons or armor with even more new properties to figure out. A good idea: a new house deco item that we can use, don't affect combat, and cost 100 million gold each.

A bad idea: A sales tax for vendors or houses, which would do no good at all, and would annoy a lot of players. A good idea: an auction house that charges a listing fee and a sales fee.

A bad idea: forcing people to join factions to get high-end armor and weapons without paying hundreds of millions in gold for them. Worse idea: Making those cheap faction items even better than the expensive, hard-to-get originals. A good idea: Make some new Felucca dungeons which have high-end loot, but where item insurance doesn't work, and where even an artifact with 255 durability can be broken by the monsters. Make the new uber loot cursed, so it can't even be insured in Trammel.

Hi, instead of a money roll, i always wanted a Gold bricks to work as money. (Not like those deco gold bricks but new ones).

When I was new to Ultima Online, i thought gold bricks would be a special item you can ONLY purchase off Bankers that would be equilvalent to gold checks like i dunno...5 million or 10 million. Well...not that high lol. But something.

These gold bricks wont give you any advantage to the game, its just a currency to store more checks in the bank. And only used in banks.

(Maybe give these gold bricks that gold coins check colors that is redeemed with the bankers in luna ONLY or something).

Oh well. You dont have to like it. It's just an idea.

I do like the idea of a shared bank account

The last really successful dupe around was a few years ago, nothing works now, not even some brand new ideas that have come up.
Alot of items have unique IDs (including checks), From what I understand there is some system that monitors how certain items are created(famously duped items: checks, commodity deeds, runic tools, arties) and what conditions they were created. Every time you manage to dupe something now it goes poof near instantly.

Sure the gold brick ideal with then being max worth of 5 mil. Has a weight value that covers or adjust from 1 - 5 mil. Can be only removed from bank box when placing in a trade window. Once bricks hit backpack get insta BOS sent to bankbox. If **** poor planing on bank box count they vannish.

A gold sink 100mil plus cost deco for the UO richest. As long as they are account bond and vannish when a house falls. Have one two items for a year and change the next. First year examples. A gallows that is 3x6 in size with animated bodies that spin and swing in the wind. Another would be a gypsy wagon with animated horses in the harness that scartch at the ground shake there head and make the wooden steed sounds.

Last gold sink is for accounts over a year old. Add a zero to what it takes to reinsure an item due to spawn/creature deaths.

Things like ringmail tunics from orcs actually had value - that is something that could be turned into ingots and sold to other players. Thanks to no item insurance and the one character slot said:
Ack!! This sounds like how it was in UO before it became all about item properties...aka Classc Shard UO :)
