Reminder for Monday September 26th....
The Gold Rush Mining Competition is tomorrow night @ 8:30 est / 7:30 cst
Please meet at the Minoc bank with a pack animal and all your mining tools ( shovels, gargoyle pickaxe, prospector tool, etc )
Rules will be explained at that time, and there will be prizes and GOLD !!!

On Monday Sept 26th, miners from across the land made their way to the town of Minoc to participate in the Gold Rush Mining Competition. After a friendly meet and greet with all the miners, Governor Naitch explained the rules of the contest. Everyone would dig up as much ore at each site in the allotted time. Four different caves were selected to serve as the playing field, and contestants were given a 5 minute time limit at each cave. The round would end either due to time, or if the mine was stripped of all of its ore. Then each miner would show the group what they had dug up in order to score points. Each piece of large ore counted as 1 point , medium was 1/2 a point , and small pieces took 2 to make 1/2 point. Since this was the GOLD Rush, golden ore counted 3x as much as all other colors, to make things interesting.
Amazingly, several gold ore veins were spotted! This made for an interesting points count !

When the last round was over, everyone headed back to Minoc and the total scores were tallied. When it was all said and done, the winner of the Gold Rush was Carlotta!
She won 10,000,000 gold as well as an engraved Miner's sign with the Gold Rush etched into it.
And, as this contest was held during Miner Appreciation Month, several groups in and around Minoc decided to put together some rather nice, and interesting prize boxes to be given away to participants.
These groups included the Miner's Guild, Blacksmith's Guild, Guild of Tinkers, Stonemasons, a local group of Gypsies, and the Goblins. Everyone took turns rolling the dice of a lucky dealer and an order was set to see who would pick a box of their choosing. Overall, this event was a big success and was enjoyed by all who attended. As always, it is the People that make these gatherings fun and a joy to host.
