Modern PvP Dexxer

Hi guys

Looking around there's not a lot of recent stuff on dexxer PvP here. Has anyone got any decent templates running at the moment?

At present I run solo - I'm in the early stages of trying out the following two:

- 4/6 Chiv/SW dexxer
120 Swords
120 Tactics
120 Parry
120 Spellweaving
120 Chivalry
120 Resist (I like Resist for PvP)

This seems great defensively but lacks a bit of finishing power. I think it would be awesome in a group due to AoE support

- Old School
120 Archery
120 Swords
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
120 Healing
120 Resist

Fun to play and simple (possibly over-simple) but I'm not sure if it has the finishing power again. Considering swapping Swords for Bushido or Ninjitsu.

Please share any other working pvp dexxer templates or suggestions for the above. :)

I like Weaving with every template at the moment. With Thunderstorm/Essence Of Wind you can lower their casting and SSI, hit your Pixies macro, Splintering weapon obviously and Mortal/Disarm/Dismount etc etc... Keep Mana Shield/Gift Of Life/Attunement/Renewal up. I was playing 4/6 Chiv/Weaver about 7 or 8 years ago it is amazing in field fights with the AOE and as a choke buster if you get a good Whirlwind/Hit Area weapon, plus it has often has a big surprise factor against random players as hardly anyone plays it. I ran mine with Med at the time though a lot of better gear is available now.

Disarm/Archer kinda meh, not much to say, Disarm/Dismount/Splinter/Mortal/Moving Shot/Double Shot/AI choose you're method etc etc. I'd go Gargoyle and do Throwing/Swords just to make it mildly different.

I was actually working on a 4/6 Bush/Parry/Ninja/Nox/Fencer but had to focus on other things and had lost my impetus with it and now abandoned it until I can be bothered again.

There's not a lot of PvP threads because not a lot has really changed in PvP. Not a lot has really changed in PvM either but people like to find new templates to do it with.

Thanks for the reply mate.

I dropped a race change token on the archer so I could play with Gargoyle, throwing is indeed quite cool. I'm going to try and build a pvp-competent version of your spawn whammy and see what happens.

I see your point about limited changes in pvp - seems a few of the more creative templates that were about a few years back have become unviable, leaving more limited choice.

Not sure it's worth 120 points, but ninja is something to consider. You can use poisoned darts and throwing stars with no poisoning skill. There is also special Nerve Strike. It recently got hit by the nerf bat. Plus, mirror images, and death strike. I believe death strike could be useful if your opponent is running away.

Nerve strike is a no-dachi special, so it can be used with either bushido or ninjitsu. Im a returning player after a few years and went to the gate to knock some dust off of my...

120 fence
120 bushido
120 tactics
Gm parry
90 anat
90 healing
80 poisoning

Im not changing anything. I will never run any type of dex based build without 120 bushido. The evasion/confidence with potions (not to mention the counterattack/disarm toggle), its just awesome. Masteries make evasion and confidence even more powerful.

Sorry, I meant the riding swipe where you can basically "nerve strike" then dismount and riding swipe again on foot to dismount your opponent.

How much use did you find poisoning to be? I always hear its not much use these days.

Personally...I use poisoning on both my fencer/archer and my pure archer (identical temps cept 1 has 120 fencing and other has 120 resist) all the time. When they're redlined and running away I use shurikens to mess up their pots/aids timer and moving shot to finish em.

The best strategy with poisoning is to stack it with bleed and something high damage like lightning strike or armor ignores. At 200 combined skill points you will inflict level 4 poison and even level 5 poison which can sometimes take multiple cure potions to cure. Some time ago the weight of potions was doubled so players are only allowed to carry half of their arsenal. You still have 12 charges and they probably have half their cure pots.

Think about it.

I also agree with the above posters comments about ninjitsu and shurikens.
