Mining for niter deposits

I have the expansion pack. I have mined in dungeons. I have mined on boats. I have 105 mining skill and over 400 luck.

Hours later and several thousand ingots later.... not a single niter deposit to be found.

Is there anything special you need to do, anything special you need to be mining for? Ore, ore and gems, ore and stone? When you hit a niter deposit, does it tell you that you've found one just as if you found a gem?

This is really frustrating, especially on a shard with only one NPC selling saltpeter.

Got Some

I went mining Friday Oct 29. 20 minutes in dungeons and 40 minutes on a ship north of Minoc with zero luck and GM mining.

I found one "large niter deposit" north of Minoc. I did not notice it until later when I spotted a blob on the bow of my small ship labeled "large niter deposit." I mined the blob on board and got 7 saltpeter in 5-9 hits.

I see 2 bugs here: One that the blob fell off the rocks onto the ship. Second that it was labeled LARGE but only had 7 resources. At this rate the price of saltpeter will skyrocket. But maybe the deposits are in fixed spots that can be marked.

Anyway, boat mining works as advertised so I assume dungeon mining works too. Try using luck.

I got 1 giant deposit in shame. Used 5 Garg pickies there with 750 luck from statue. Got 47 salpeter from it. I used another 5 garg pickies in SA dungeon and got nothing (with 0 luck)

I imagine the Devs are having a good laugh over this. Wonder if they will be laughing in 5 1/2 months when they try to get us to buy "Another Fun Booster! Buy it! Play it! It'll be as much fun as we made High S... Ah... NO! Much more fun than that! Yes Much more fun!" < hesitates, then whispers to the other devs " Oh man, no way they'll buy the baloney this time. We laid it on to heavy with High Seas.>

I doubt I'll touch the next booster.
