My metal armour vendor is costing me too much, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

should I

1.Keep it, some people like metal armour available to buy

2. expand my leather vendor, selling barbed suits

3. expand my leather vendor, selling more expensive '8s and overs' suits? (ie suits where each piece has no resist less than 8)

4. Split it, keeping some metal suits, but some leather or studded suits?

5. Something else I haven't thought of, suggestions welcomed.

Skills I have available: tailor, smith, carpenter, bowyer. Tinkering is not gm, other skills are lumber & armslore.

If it is costing too much now, it will probably still cost you too much, even with reduced stock, since it sounds like your customers have infrequent need for it. If it were me, I'd probably put a contact for metal armor special orders book on the top level of the leather armor vendor or maybe sell runes to your shop with special orders accepted and contact info inscribed on the rune.

Is it costing you too much because it just sits too long on the vendor or because the price you are selling for is less than the current cost of ingots?? If it's because the suits are sitting too long, just stock 1-2 suits and replace as they are bought. Or are you already doing this?

I would go with what Skylark said. Put up a bulletin board at the house and tell people to leave requests.

As far as GM suits, I'm not sure what people want. I keep a couple of 6-piece barbed suits on my vendor and I have sold maybe a half dozen.

I hope you get some good feedback about this. Whenever I have asked in the past what people want or don't want, not many people speak up.

SPEAK UP people! Crafters can't provide what you want if you won't tell us what it is you would buy!!!!!

If someone were to go and buy the entire stock I'd just about recoup what I've paid in vendor fees and it's a good job I mined my own ingots

I'm thinking maybe I'll spread my leather goods over the 2 vendors and put books on with metal suits, price lists and contact info.

Thanks for the suggestion Skylark

Can't speak for everyone, but I use bloodwood some times and buy Petra's metal some times. During those times I use a lot of it because I die a lot when I am actively playing. However, if I am on a ROT push or working on an alt, or dealing with RL there are significant gaps in my need. So perhaps taking special orders would be a good way to go.

I buy it, sporadically.

I think that the suggestion of a book or board for special orders is a good idea.
As a regular, I don't mind waiting a day or two for the items.

I sugested this before but I will again. A crafters day.
Log in and go to meeting place...(trying to get this part to happen).."close to a moongate and GZ with a crafting area would be a wonderfull place to gather. Crafters could sit and chat while doing there bods and special orders/enhancing. Noobs could come and ask questions, sell raw materials and buy cheap armor and weapons."
Party up or use some other form of communication so everyone stays in touch during there daily activities.

I use your metal mage armor alot to help get my phy resist up.

Not sure this is the place but can you make decent Kasa's? I like the looks but hard to get decent resists on them.

i would recomend stocking it twice a week and posting on the boards when you stock. i dont sell the gm stuff but thatss what i do anytime i stock and sell out pretty quickly (there was a thread somewhere about the tripple seige vendors cant remember where it was or if anything came of it)

Not sure what you class as 'decent' but I think there are a couple of kasa in the hat box on the leather vendor at the moment if you'd care to look.

@Dexdash: I currently stock all my vendors daily

It's interesting, but I tend to be fast asleep when most of the shard are logged in.

i dont use studded because its not meditable. most templates nowadays rely on at least a small amount of mana weather dexer or no. i would personally say go barbed, maybe set up one regular gm barbed guy and one with say spined kits as you can get some decent stuff off of it.

yeah i dont stock daily due to the vendor fees, i typicaly stock 1-2mil on my vendor and try to get it to sell out that day or the next (vendor fees for that are like 70k or so. thats how i prevent the vendors eating up all the proffits.

my idea for you is to stock it up every weekend let everyone know they can count on it every sat and sunday and to stock up for the week. my guess is you will sell the same amoun just in one day or 2 and not have to pay the vendors all week.

I got out of the leather armor business when the BOS changes went in and I could no longer get barbed leather sufficiently cheaply.
