Heh, don´t worry. The "guilty" ones know what I mean...I'm sorry you have completely lost me there!
Agreed, but not available in Luna at affordable prices to the average player.'Essentials' are perfectly available. If they were 'essential', and not available, then nobody would be able to play.
Nothing wrong with that at all if it suits THEIR play style. I was relating to Kims post about not bank rolling other traders with cheap stock, so they can buyout and resell at a profit. I was also confirming [from the results of my experiment] that this does in fact go on in Luna. As to how often and whether it IS or has happened to other players I don't know. I can only talk about my experience. If people can resell stock at a higher price than you want to sell for - what, precisely is wrong, other than 'those people are not playing like I want them to"? If they can keep on selling at these supposedly 'excessive' prices, that has to imply people are keeping on buying.
True. I did however have a conversation with a couple of new players the other day whilst at my Luna house, who told me that they felt it would be a long time before they could gather enough gold to buy alot of the things they had seen forsale here."Reasonable" prices are entirely personal choices, what I will pay for something is not what you, or anyone else, would likely pay.
No I was saying that I felt that if there were shops selling essentials at affordable prices. Then more players may well come to Luna and shop/hang around and hopefully bring a bit more of the old UO community feel to the town. You, however, take the stance 'it should be cheaper' - but have no apparent substance behind your assertion. But as you said earlier,
Sorry disagree with you again here. I was referring to another part of Kims original post that said;"I'm not into the 'squabbling thing', so feel free to flame if you don't agree with what I have said. But it will likely fall on to deaf ears!"
(You want to state what you think people should be doing, without listening to their opinions? Interesting stance there....).
Yes and no. See my first post as to why I say this.Your point, as you call it, is that you can't see a shop set up in Luna that sells things as cheaply as you think they should, and therefore the people who charge more than you think they should are doing something 'wrong'.
I don't think I'm the one ranting here.............Even to someone who has precisely one vendor, that sells stuff dirt cheap way outside Luna, your position is completely nonsensical, made worse by your unwillingness to even try do anything to change something you clearly disapprove of.
You want stuff sold cheaper? Sell it cheaper. Since that has no appeal to you, I conclude what you really want is to be able choose who is allowed sell things in Luna, so they can't charge what YOU think are excessive prices. Or maybe it's just a chance to say how horrible other people are for not doing what you think they should do....
Either way, there's nothing of any value, in real life or UO terms, to your position. It's just another rant from someone who "knows" how everyone else should act.
How can a player with a house in Luna know so little about the shard he is playing on? Luna is the main street of any city in RL, the prices there will always be higher than other places due simply to the much higher traffic. But not everything revolves around Luna, and especially not on the basic supplies. There Europa still have a broad range of both prices and variety. We have RAA, Barians, many shops along Umbra Road, OT, Tia and Miss Polly in Zento just to name a few, and the lovely Mountain Hollow for your deco needs. If you have no knowledge of any of these places I am sure someone will be willing to escort you. The best you can do for the new players is to point them in the right direction for what they need.Agreed, but not available in Luna at affordable prices to the average player.
As it should be.True. I did however have a conversation with a couple of new players the other day whilst at my Luna house, who told me that they felt it would be a long time before they could gather enough gold to buy alot of the things they had seen forsale here.
What exactly are you referring to when you say "essentials"? Nothing in UO is ESSENTIAL, that's the beauty of the game.Agreed, but not available in Luna at affordable prices to the average player.'Essentials' are perfectly available. If they were 'essential', and not available, then nobody would be able to play.
What were they looking at though? If a new mage see's an Ornament of the Magician in Luna for 5mill, they are going to think "Crap, I'll never afford that", whereas if anyone playing more than a year or 2 will think "Damn, that's a bargain, I'll buy that!"True. The first item I set my eyes on as a new player was a fruit basket priced at 45K. I thought it looked lovely, and really wanted one - but the price was so steep for me I had no idea how to obtain that much. This was during that time when a Small Tower had a pricetag of 3 Mil btw. That was just too far away in the future for me, but my first goal was that fruitbasket. Just remembered when I read your post aboveWhat were they looking at though? As Aurelius says, cost is a personal issue. One persons Treasure is another mans Junk etc etc.
I don't know they never said. I got the impression that they had only been playing a few weeks, and only stumbled on Luna when trying out the public moongate. What were they looking at though? I bow down to your superior knowledge of Europa! True I have limited experience of this shard due to the amount of time I have been here. How can a player with a house in Luna know so little about the shard he is playing on?
if I recall the thread the other day, this person is nearby ... buys everything off her vendors then resells on theirs at higher prices. This practice disallows proper purchases from being made at the Ironrose shop by players.
Griefing? Nope but it's damned nasty and uncalled for IMO.
I bow down to your superior knowledge of Europa! True I have limited experience of this shard due to the amount of time I have been here.
On Europa? Are we playing the same shard?I have however travelled about the realm quite a bit taking in who's doing what and where etc, and as of yet only encountered hostility on here!
If I am one of the two, then I wouldn`t ignore me, although the rest have some truth in it" Ignore them two, they've always been argumentitive and know it all"
Can't say I agree with all of that statement, but there is SOME truth there!
You and I can have a hug if you agree to let me escort you around visiting the broad range of shops, going through all my shopping runebooks. As for this thread. We will just have to have a group hug, and agree to disagree.
I've already seen them [the shops], and have quite a few books of my own.On Europa? Are we playing the same shard? You and I can have a hug if you agree to let me escort you around visiting the broad range of shops, going through all my shopping runebooks.
Yes I have read that one too. Anyone running a shop has had that happen to them at least one time. I did too, on the same item. You can either deal with it, or choose to simply stop stocking that vendor. Dealing with it here means understanding that if you get bought out in such a way - someone else is making a profit you should have received. That actually means your prices as a whole are too low. You can change that, as well as change how many you stock at once, when you stock etc. She has already recieved plenty of good advice in how to deal with the situation. Also, on a side note, it would seem that not ALL players that buy-out do so for profit!

This post in that thread kind of jumped out at me. No idea why though
Quite possibly - nothing related to UO (barring some of the activities of EA) annoys me more than any sentences that boil down to 'other people should play like this....' and setting out what those damned 'other people' are doing wrong. As I said, if they don't break the rules, spoil the game for others, and have fun, they are doing it absolutely right.I don't think I'm the one ranting here.............
