Making ethereals with a transcendence orb

But then you will not be able to use it as a pet, since when you click the thy ursine in your pack, you ride it, then when you unmount the ursine thy, it goes to your pack : So the thy is no longer a fighting pet for you but just deco thy to ride and not ride?

The only way to make this really useful to players would be to allow these pet to actually fight for the player while player is riding the pet. Otherwise just deco and mount. A mount does not have to cost 200 drops. I do not see that the debs would make pets fight while the pet is ridden!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that you have to use the transcendance orb on it when it is still in statuette form, before you have redeemed it into the pet form. So no, I do not think you can train it to a 5 slot and then change it.

The point is to make vanity mounts (grizzled mare, skeletal cat, etc.) into an ethereal mount that can't die, and which can be summoned, as some players would prefer to use them that way. Making an Ursine into one would obviously be a waste of drops, but the devs probably figured there was no reason not to let players do it if they wanted.

You can only transmog it into an ethy when it is still in statuette form so no you could not train it first.

Hmm.... has anyone tried to transform the "swampy" hiryu statue from the Tok event to see if it gives the damage reduction?? That would definitely be an added perk.
