Making a healer

Hiya! I'm making a character, ideally I would like her to be a healer, BUT also be able to defend herself a little =)

Would like to have the following:
Magery
Eval Int
Hiding
Stealth

...then?

I was thinking spirit speak would be good, and vet? (do I need animal lore if I use vet?) If I use healing skill, I need anatomy don't I?

What would be the best way to go?

Yup, you need animal lore to make use of vet.

I'm probably forgetting a few but..

Magery - Heal, Greater Heal, Cure, Archcure, Resurrection
Healing / Anatomy - Tradional bandage-based healing/curing
Spellweaving - Gift of Renewal, Gift of Life
Vet / Lore - Pet healing & resurrection
Chivalry - Close Wounds, Cleanse by Fire
SpiritSpeak - Self-heal, GM can commune with the dead/while dead.
Necromancy - Vampiric embrace (hit life leech) & reanimation
Bushido - Confidence
Tinkering - Golem repair!

Italics for those that can heal others/followers. Plenty of options there.

I suppose your intent is to be able to heal others as well as have a little bit of offensive punch in a fight?

If so, may I suggest the following:
120 magery: maximize your spell healing output
Some meditation: this doesn't need to be 120, or even 100, but you need it to be able to keep healing
90 healing, 100 anatomy: good heals via bandages and defensive wrestling from EI and anatomy.
120 EI: maximize your damage output
And that leaves approximately 200 points for your hiding and stealth (more or less depending on how much meditation you have).

The biggest problem would be that you couldn't ressurect pets, but the trick there is not to let anybody's pets get killed.

I also find that the standard mage/spellweaver (120 mage/meditate/EI/weaving/2 other skills) does more than enough for healing in almost every situation. Even against the recent strangers (the 6), I would heal multiple warriors and pets at the same time with little trouble until their weapons broke. Adding in necromancy and spirit speak for mana regeneration as the last two skills makes you nearly the perfect healer.

But yeah, plenty of options.

Oh thanks both, very much!

I didn't know that spellweaving had healing as well - I've not played with spellweaving at all yet, or read much about it yet - so that one is actually appealing to me, and taking me off on a different tack than I had originally planned =)

I might have to do some reading on that! Thanks again!

I had a support char for doing champs with the following template:

110 Chiv
100 healing
100 anatomy
100 vet
100 lore
100 hiding
80 stealth

Max Str to carry some supplies for ppl (regs, bandies, pots)

Could mass ress, band ress, pet ress, and hide in some corner and just show up when needed. Great for harrowers, despise champs, etc.
No active way of defending herself tho.
