Magincia is hideous now...

Were’s the buildings? It looks more like a cemetery then anything else. I like the auction idea but the graphic design is really bad, it’s so ugly im going to sell the house I won or let it drop...yuk

My suggestion would be to move all the auction signs into a bigger building like the large stable’s outside of Briton and add npc shops to Magincia.

It’s really bad...and I cant believe they did not make a better effort at designing the city.

Not that bad.

having said that I still don't quite know what to make of the idea itself.

I will say… I, for one, am totally disappointed in the test center version of Maginica… but at least they are trying something new. It took far too many years just to get to this point. Even on Atlantic, I just don’t see the community to support such an effort. As is, even with just the houses… very few are actually community minded. Anything that takes away from Lagtown is a good idea, though.

I remember a long time ago, after we got the “new” pink rental deeds, the staff talked about more upgrades to vendors including exactly what you are seeing on the test shard. It would have been much better to make these house-friendly and not 2 million a week public land area arrangements. Just more of a gold sink and someone needing… lets say blue beetles, who could get them for free most of the time, will be forced to pay 100k a pop or more. I don’t see this as practical or friendly.

Still, I think it's unfair to call it a graveyard… NOW. I mean, for years… it was a the biggest graveyard in all the lands.

If given the choice... I say they do to Luna what they did to Maginica. BURN it DOWN! :pie:

I think you guys just lack community on your silly production servers we over on Siege haven't had so much community growth ever as far as I can tell =) I love New Mag... do I wish they would bring in some better world builders sure... but so far it could be much worse given what I've seen of some of the other recent world building attempts...

I really think that you are wrong. The old Magencia looked alot like a roman or greek city. I really expected to find a large cathedral in the middle the first time I went there. The whole atmosphere was that of authority. If you ever travel outside the US or other large countries to the smaller countries you will see many smaller communities that do not have paved streets or large magnificient buildings. They are villages. they are a solid community with their main attraction being the farmers market where people meet, buy, sell and mingle in a way that modern cities have long forgot. I think that the Dev's are right on that this is what community is all about and that they did a great job of keeping in tune with the era in which Sosaria is based.

Ugh, test is test, a place that is bombarded by people who have tons of resources and other crap and don't really care about their shard. TC rarely, if ever, reflects what everyone's home shards will look like once whatever is being tested goes live when it comes to areas affected by players. So why the hell should I care what test looks like when I, and most other players, play mainly real shards? Mag on my shard looks fine. Or is test your main shard hence your complaint?

well i was hoping for more npc building shops ect it looks like everything is getting put down where the old com base use to be that's where the bankers are now anyways it need to have what it has now plus regular town type buildings that is why luna is so drab everything is in stalls all crammed together. right now it does look like lunav.2 give us some other buildings and cut back a little on the commodity vender's area

Test shard wise… I don’t think the staff has ever changed anything based on player response to what is presented on the test shard. In other words, it's already set in stone. Without incentive or even care, we are expected to find and report bugs… so they can ignore our reports. I gave up on that idea a long-long time ago. I use test as more of a preview of things to come. So, yeah… I agree… if you have to see it to really believe it. Or even comment on it.

If 100x more people objected to this current path… the damage is already done, so they would never change it.

It would have been very nice to rebuild the island to some kind of monumental glory, remembering it's past and maybe even making it a place of adventure… not a retirement village. That was most funny. And true. :)

I remember way–way-way back, before “online”, the island was nothing more then a peaceful farming community.

IDK i would like to see a bit of player customization involved in the rental plots at mag. I know the way its set up now is to denote what type of items are being sold EI: you know an animal shop when you see one. But I think that is what players are talking about.

It is the animal fencing when they say ugly. Why not make the plots regular customizable "platforms" with only half height walls and a raised "plot" foundation. And let the sign denote the type. That leaves the awesome aspect of showing the animal a little iffy but if the half walls are done right (limited type)in place of the rickety old fence looking thing there now it would add just what the players need.

New Magincia's outcome depended entirely on who moved in.

On shards where there was some organisation amongst the winners (the roleplaying community, a single guild, or a fairly small and tightknit playerbase like Siege), the resulting design is fairly cohesive. This happened on Baja, and our Magincia is very pretty.

On shards where a random selection of people won the lottery, of course the place will end up a mishmash of fully customised houses, classics, boxes, demented patchwork monstrosities and empty plots.

It's nobody's fault. Not everyone enjoys customising houses. And there's unfortunately nothing that anybody can do about it.

Wojoe..........message from Barney Miller's desk; "It's just a game"

There's so much more to get uptight about, with UO, than what Magincia looks like. What's the point of griping though? I can't stand Loona, and I don't go there, it's lame, weak, and for the lazy.

Any system that can pull people away from idiotville, to buy and sell, is ok by me.

If you'll excuse me, reality calls.
