Macro problems with 2 accounts 1 char name

I am stumped.

I have 2 separate accounts (totally different account names) and on each of those accounts I have a character that is named the same.

The problem is that when I log into the same named char from account B I pick up the desktop and macros from the same named char from account A.

Has anyone faced this and been able to resolve it short of changing a char name ?

It doesn't make sense to me that 2 totally separate accounts would be pulling from the same desktop & macro files.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problems, all the way back before AoS. I got fed up with it and just deleted a char and made a new one with a different name =(

sorry, no idea how to fix it.

It is because the macro files are called by character name rather than a number or other variable... there really is no fix for it. I ended up just creating a single macro system that would work for both (or more) characters.

yeah there is no chance of deleting the toon. too many +20 skill scrolls eaten. Maybe ill try a name change or something.

Thanks guys.

One other option is to create the macro.txt file for one character... then copy it in another place... then create the macro.txt file for the other character and then rename it and save it in another place...

Then when you go to play a character, replace the appropriate macro file as needed.

It's a pain - but it does work.

You could always rename your character to something similar adding or dropping a letter or possibly extending one name.

there was no way I could have done that, I had all spells macroed plus many more, would have needed over 200 keys ha, plus both were PvP characters so the keymapping was important =/

Hmmm, which client are you using? Iam using the CC and each account has a different folder in my macro folder (UO and UOA). They never mix and i have 4 Kas Althumes with completely different skillsets / macros.

There used to be a UOA option (or was it a UO option?) for linking macros by character number rather than name - just for this problem. It might still be there, check around the options.

I have multiple characters named Sorcon Gartius and I've always had this problem. I had to just use identical macros on the Tamer & Bard and then use a character rename token on the Necromancer

If you rename the character to a similar name, I think you'll run into the same problem if the first 8(?) letters are the same. So it would be best to give the new name a title or something, in front of the name.

I think, anyways.

If this in the UO client it is strange indeed since each acct has it's own separate folder in the EA/Electronic Arts folder.

In UOA the fix is to change the setting for macros from char name to char ID.

classic client.

here is the biggest kicker. for some reason a second char on account B is now creating a folder in the account A folder and reading macros from that.

very wonky to say the least.
