LUCK

Why is luck so special? Why are the percentages so shifted from making this obtainable?
Many still say it's broken, some say they get worse loot, how does it make you lucky?

While I personally don't feel 'lucky', selling, smelting, or unraveling all luck pieces I have, I appreciate the ones who create and maintain their luck suits, their verifications are invaluable to community.

Is it really better loot? Max Luck vs. Max DI, which puts the most gold in Your purse?
Compare Luck to any... HCI, DCI, etc. Why makes Luck so special that steps had to be taken to ensure most players would not be able to use it?

I find no luck better then with 2k worth of luck IMO, some of my best loot is from my straight up dexxer with no luck suit.

I have one suit that gives me 200 luck and the other just under 2000.
I seem to get more artifact based items at 200 luck.

Nearly everything you would ever want to know about how Luck is supposed to work can be found here: Luck.

However, as to whether Luck actually works as described or intended (which, I have found, are often completely opposed) is another matter entirely.

I just started playing with luck myself. Made fully imbued luck suit (+ robe of eclipse and statue) which put me at a nearly 50% chance according to the UOGuide calculator (cant remember the exact number). I also use Bushido so I might have hit perfection. Went to Shame, ran right up the the cave troll, slayed it, and it dropped a piece of virtue armor. Woohoo! I've killed tons more in Shame with no "luck" as it were, and I'm thinking my odds are about the same as before. But then again, maybe I'm not killing the right thing, or enough?

not sure luck has any bearing on virtue armour, its sposed to be on the stats you get of regular loot that is affected

I'm pretty Luck actually does have some bearing on Virtue Armor. I believe those drops are the same as The Gauntlet - they're based on the system first seen during Treasures of Tokuno where you accumulate points for each kill that incrementally improve your chances of receiving a drop. Luck then bolsters this chance further.

The only problem is that the dev team refuses to disclose how this system works or precisely how much affect Luck has on it.

Unlike mum, who always says "make sure you save room for dessert" I don't hear people saying the same when building a suit.
Being an imaginary RP aspect, Why does it only affect monsters, and no other aspects of the game, such as crafting, fishing, or finding T-map locations? And as RP, wouldn't it be developed thru play styles, much like Fame/Karma, instead of just taken on and off with a suit? If I need a rabbit's foot, or other amulet, then I do, least that's more realistic than copious confusing amounts, levels, ranges, that don't work, and may not ever function correctly.

For me Luck is usable at Shame only for the chance of extra drops that you get - i got two suits on my tamer - one that gives me low resists and no 100% lrc but with statue i get to 2300 luck - the other with 70/63/70/54/55 resists, 100% LRC, good amount of mana reg and FCR 1333 luck without statue (so around 1.8k luck with statue)

I noticed with my 2300 luck suit i get more extra drops from wind elementals than with the smaller luck suit - on the other side i am vulnerable with low resist and need to have regs on me...

But for the gold i spent alone to get that desireable mempo of fortune and bless it, the current luck system didnt pay me off yet as for high end drops...in the end, after a one hour hunt, i get 150 items to unravel and about 1-3 items to keep each run...

I don't know if luck is working as intended, but I've always noticed the difference between having luck and not. I can really tell in Shame. My disco tamer has around 3100 luck with statue if I remember right. When my statue wears off, I notice a drop in the loot quality and quantity. However, getting clean one or two property loot, such as 10% SSI jewelry is just about impossible. It might be better to fight mud elementals with no luck.

that's a 50% chance at getting the luck loot bump, not a 50% chance for arty. All that means is you have a 50% chance of your loot being one level higher than it normally would be..so basicly a little more gold, magical items,etc.... (amount of luck has NO effect on the items thenselves, you get the same bump with 200 luck as 2000....just a higher chance of getting the bump per kill with 2000)

For the artifacts, for stuff in TOT system (which i believe is actually all artys now) it increases the points accumulated for each kill, so it definitely speeds up getting an artifact.

I run 2260 with no statue and most of the time the loot looks the same but I have gotten more lesser/greater artifacts off earth elementals with the luck suit on then off.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes a lot more sense.
