Luck in shame.

So with this shame revamp I decided to try out a lucksuit for the first time in 14 years. I imbued some pieces (140 luck) and have a few arties with luck, totalling my luck to 1580 atm. Is that high enough luck? What are people running around with (excluding luck statue and honor) What could I do/purchase to get my luck higher?

I have leurocians mempo and AoF, imbued pieces, Conjurers with luck and those sandals.

I use swords of prosperity 200 luck. And also jester hat of chuckles 150 luck.
I have 1400 luck without statue. But It seems to me luck doesnt have much influence on better quality loot you receive. For example I have used my tamer for several hours who has the luck. And then I also used my dexer for alot shorter time. And with no luck I received the best loot from my dexxer. So, I will continue to use my dexer with no luck. For it seems he has the best of luck of receiving better loot.

I stopped using luck. I had 2200 with vase touch.

I found little difference. Made a few less pieces if I solo.

From what i understood from the herald is that the luck has a chance of removing one of the negitive prperties like brittle/cursed/can not be repaired.

It doesnt affect the quality of the item anymore the tag at the bottom does like mayor arti/major magical and so on.

From my working out the max luck you can get now is:

But the max according to uoguide needed is 3982 for 100% chance.

I have run about (negative) -200 to -300 Luck. Gotten 110 luck leather sleeves and 110 bracelet, both w/ no other mods. both non-cursed - from lvl 1&2 mobs, so i like the way luck is working. When I went the other way by the same amount, loot was both less in qty, and intensity. and this was After the player requested change/fix to intensities.

Ive never been convinced luck works. Hence why Ive tried it for the first time now and ive played since the start. Im certainly not convinced it works now either, ive gotten more cursed items with 1500+ luck suit then on a 140 luck suit. IMO its as broken as its always been

I got garghis single hand weapon 170 luck ehanted 210 so you need to rivist your table

luck adds a better chance to get "Negative Mods" like Cursed.
However, it adds an increase to the property intensities on the items, and there is a Very rare chance of finding items with Many positive mods, and No negative mods. (this goes for both Luck & non-luck users)

So Luck will help you find Stronger items more frequently, thus increasing your chance at finding stronger items with no Negative mods (because of how frequently items with high intensities spawn, while wearing luck).

If your one of the people who want the best possible items, and don't mind spending the time farming for it, then Luck is the way to go Imo.

with that said Luck, is not a "Win-win" thing, and its not necessary on your armor set.

I seem to get more uncursed items with NO LUCK SUIT and they have nice mods for imbuing purposes. I have no proof though. Just opinion.

I agree, but only because the properties that come bundled together don't often match exactly what I want. I'm ecstatic when I get a 20% DCI or HCI jewelry piece in shame. If I could get a 10% SSI jewel with no other properties it would make my day. Of course, thinking back to what people would pay for 5% SSI turquoise rings with no non-dexer properties...

This was for human or elf, as i havent played a garg but i know they dont have head slot so its probably totaly different numbers,

It is fun, to some degree, hunting in shame for these items. They havent given the monsters ridiculous amounts of HP either, because thats just boring...live boxing bags for minutes and minutes on end. Atleast you can solo the vortexes and mages etc within 10 or so minutes or less, wich is ok. All in all I like the new shame.

Im beginning to think high luck on blood/poison eles might be the way to go. unbounds seem to put too many mods on items for their own good. cursed, brittle and can't be repaired on the same legendary arti :/.

I hunt blood/poison/wind/lava els and clay golems mainly for this very reason plus they go down way faster than unbounds or mages and I get some very nice loot!
I always have about 800 luck on my suit and sometimes will pump it to about 1600 or so and really dont see that much difference but then again i am getting a lot more volume of items then someone hunting the unbounds/mages etc!

I have been killing unbounds religously each night for an hour or 2 for the past couple of weeks. Sampire with 1100 luck and Disco mage with 2200 luck after hitting the statue.

Last night I decided to remove all the luck and kill with Zero luck. I noticed a huge difference in the quality as well as legendary items that dropped. Lot less nicer items and legendary items with no luck.

I think I will keep with the luck because when I do get lucky and get a really nice non-negative piece it pays off nicely. Killing unbounds takes about 4 mins each, plus I get a lot of Shame Crystals, Void Orbs and Vitrilo from the unbounds. I also do all my killing in Fel side, not sure if that makes much difference in the quality of the loot or not... havent really tested it compared to Tram side

I have been mainly hunting on my disco/provo tamer and unbounds take me about twice as long to do as for a sampire type, My sampire is not quite ready for unbounds yet (need some scrolls) but I can see sampires are the way to go!

I have 2490 on my tamer and when comparing my loot with others in shame who have 0 luck they are getting far better stuff than i am getting, and i rarely find anything that isn't cursed or brittle.

I am one who does not believe in Luck mainly because there is no way to compare what you get with Luck and what you would have gotten without it. It would be nice if there were some on-screen message that said something like, "You received 500 more gold because of your luck ..." or something.

On cursory examination, just as you and others have said, those without Luck seem to be getting better loot. There is no way of knowing what they would have gotten with Luck. Since Luck gives a chance of there being a greater amount of loot, there is a chances that the loot will not be greater. Given this, why bother? In as far as imbuing is concerned, it is a wasted property. I would rather have a greater chance at surviving combat and actually getting loot than having a chance of getting better loot.

Ignore the above statement about the loot based off a random players luck of the looting pool rites. This has been verified by the bigwigs. In Shame of those that have looting rights the game picks random player to base the loot by luck factor. So if 3 tamers are meatshielding with luck suits and few fighters are along for big damage............... at death the loot is based off one random killer.


Outside Shame luck is about of quantity loot. In Shame luck effects quality of loot. The more crap an item has on it the more chances to attrack negative flies.

Also, I think a better question would be, when is the luck check taken? Is it purely on the death of the monster? In other words, could you redline a creature then with a click of a button on EC don a lucksuit and get the gains, or do you need to be wearing the luck suit all the way.....

The way I have unerstood the Dev statement regarding luck, the loot is generated into the corpse when the monster dies. The luck check is done between the monster death and the loot generation, thus applying the luck bonus to any loot that is generated.

I do believe you can equip your luck items just before the monster dies and get full credit for the luck, provided you are the random player selected for the luck check.

Probably the least of the reasons, you have a better chance of real life luck kicking in than game luck making any difference in shame. The more luck I wear the more stuff I get with more mods and negatives. With honor I've hit over 3000 luck and other than getting items to unravel that's about it.
