Shadow iron and copper runics - what's the point?
I've got tons clogging up my resource bag - any suggested uses for these?

sell them on a vendor in bags of 25+ at about 250k or if you are on a smaller shard just use them to fill more bods.

I used the shadow hammers to make daggers back when I was imbuing and needed items with two properties. That was way back in the day when imbuing first came out, so there are probably better methods to gaining at higher levels now.

I wouldn't call them useless. You can also use them to craft things and hope that it roles two properties that you want such as 30 SSI and a high leech property so that you don't have to imbue those properties. Personally I would market them as cheap hammers that will help you get to 120 imbuing faster and cheaper. Maybe put a book on your vendor that explains that once you hit a certain level that by crafting items with 2 properties will reduce the amount of items needed to imbue an item at the optimal gain range.

They are anything but useless. They can craft what is probably the most under used item in the game: elemental damage weapons.

If you don't want them I'll glady take them off your hands. Feel free to PM what shard your on and if I have characters there I'll take all that you've got.

I still do bods to get lower end runics and I burn them all up eventually. Mostly I recycle the results but I do keep some with markedly good mods so that I can avoid enhancing costs.

They are far from useless - I see shadow hammers selling for 50-100k at Lake Austin's LOST Auction.

All of them make items that can be good starts for imbuing (especially the "toggle mods" that are either not present, or 100% intensity if present, that are usually prohibitively expensive to imbue). Copper hammers used to make recipe items can be used to attempt to get relics from unraveling, but bronze hammers work better in that regard (and copper and bronze hammers are selling for at least their 2003 prices (when runics were relatively rare), if not higher, as a result).

Aye I tend to use bronze/copper for KWC, and dull copper for SSI (30), but was unsure of the benefit of having shadow runics.

I guess as you say for "toggle mods" (spell channel/slayers etc) they can be ok... but for elemental weapons? why when most warriors have access to consecrate?

I've burnt tons of dull to get SSI, but haven't seen super slayer mods - are these available to higher end runics?

On drachs, willing to sell, but not just give. I'm still fairly poor as a returning player!

sry.

Also, thanks for all your replies, very useful info.

most of my super-slayers were made with DC & Shadow runics.

For a DC hammer, Super slayers occur about once every 4-6 hammers - unless of course, the RNG decides to have fun with you.

6 or 7 years ago, there was an orc invasion of Cove, Yew, etc. A Guildmate asked me to make them an Orc Slayer. A simple, ordinary, minor slayer, Orc Slayer. I usually would get 1-2 orc slayers (sometimes 3, 4 or 5 of them!) from one Dull Copper hammer. I burnt THIRTEEN hammers (one of them a Shadow hammer) before I got an Orc Slayer - and I created a REPOND slayer a couple swings before it (I was using a UO Assist macro to make 10 at a time). I created 3 or 4 SUPER slayers, before that usually too-common minor slayer finally appeared, and taking around 5000 ingots!

I have an axe with every super slayer except for elemental slayer from DC hammers and in fact I have multiple susperslayers. I finally broke down and imbued an elemental slayer axe. I probably should have waited till I was at 120 imbuing cause I failed 4 times and used up all my relics LOL I had been trying for over a year to get an elemental slayer axe. Now I can imbue other properties on them. Also of interest to me which I haven't done yet would be to take a 100% fire damage weapon and make it an undead slayer thereby saving mana for other uses (no need to consecrate weapon). I have a few weapons that are 100% fire but most are from enhancing with bronze and are not imbuable.

i must have burnt 25 dull hammers and 5 shadow. not 1 super slayer.... :S

is this abnormal?
TBH you dont want super slayers as they offer less bonus than normal slayers (is it 100% over 150%??)

Burn hammers to get elemental dmg wepons as they sell for LOTS, this is because against some mobs like IRK who mana drain constantly it means you DONT have to use mana to cast CW and dont stop doing big dmg to them ;)
