You don't have to kill a top rank char to receive a faction point. You can even get points by stealing sigils now. If you cant get yourself to 2 or 3 faction points then you are choosing to be lazy. FYI, faction ranking doesnt actually rank you against other players faction points when determining rank. You litterally need two points to be top rank, even if every other member of your faction has 20 kill points each. A broken system? Perhaps, but it is the way it works. Or doesn't work. However you look at it.

For 'stealing' sigils, or for corrupting sigils and taking towns? Because stealing is easy. Corrupting, not so much, unless nobody's on the ball.

And I wouldn't call it lazy to not be able to get faction points. Unless you want to head to Luna and gank/kill-steal, it's pretty hard to find other factioners out and about, especially solo ones.

Anyway, I'll concede it may be easier than I thought to get the top-rank stuff if you're not ranked against the other members of the faction.
