Lost my dog when LS went down (update)

I had been killing ToT stuff. I was using my dog and riding a llama so I could run away from mean things.

I went to the bank and stayed on the llama. LS went down and today I have 1 in the pet window and the dog is not in my stable. It had room for it.

Should the dog have gone wild? It was wonderfully happy when I checked. I have 115 taming and lore.

My tamer is human so I doubt any elven tamers are in twisted weild right now...

I was near the champ spawn with my other dog and riding a llama. I saw my brown doggy and his name was blue to me. He was dead. I put away my other dog and ressed the brown one.

A message said 30 gold was withdrawn from my bank. And the brown dog was still mine and showed up on my pet count.

I did not know a pet would not show up on your count.

The other day I guess I teleported back to town and did not notice my brown dog was not with me. Since I dont usually ride a llama, I figured I was on my dog since I moved fast.

He musta stayed in Tok and killed stuff till he died. Didn't give me any artifacts though..

I still dont know how I had a ghost dog, a llama, and another dog and my pet count was 5.

Glad he is back!

I lost my Greater Dragon and I was right next to him when it went down. When It came back up I couldn't find him. I looked for awhile and found him 3 screens away and Wild. I got him back, but I have to wait for him to bond again.

Pets lose happiness very quickly when their owner isn't in sight.

When hunting with a Cu, it's often easier to simply ride that if you need to leave the combat zone in a hurry. This has the added advantage that you can save it's neck as well as your own.

Not exactly easy to get back on your Cu when it's fighting something and you get "Connection Lost" and then suffer a time warp back to mid-fight earlier though.

That may be the case, but it's hard to do anything when you get "Connection Lost", and "time warps" are not something I'd expect to run into.... :S

I'm not saying Pawain deserved to lose his dog, if that's what you're thinking.

If it's only a 5 or 10 minute drop, usually a time warp isn't an issue, 5 or so hours tends to cause one although from what I saw when I logged back in it wasn't too bad, but VERY situationally dependent.

Pet balls are your friend. Err, I mean the ones you can put in the bank and keep linked to your pet, no the furry kind.

Every pet used for fighting should have a linked pet ball in the bank, because this unfortunately happens now and then. In most cases, you can get your pet back.

Pet Balls are definitely your friend. We keep one for each pet in the bank & another at the house just in case. It's a ton of pet balls if you have a bunch of tamers, but its worth it.
