Lost items

Has anyone found a lost item anywhere other than along the coast? I have only found one as of yet and it was along the coast not far from ice dungeon. Thanks for your input.

Yes, I have found most of them in woods where housing is not possible. Outside of Skara, South of Yew, North of Brit etc.

Could be anything, Wavace. They brought in Honesty virtue Find a lost object, return it for honesty credit. Eventually get a discount from npcs
Particularly useful on Siege where NPCs charge rather high prices for some items.
You get more credit if you return it to the right town, and even more to the right person. Find out where it belongs, and to whom, by using forensic eval. I have Dee trained to just over 70 Forensics atm, she's id'ing for Marie, and anyone else who asks tbh.

yes -they seems to spawn anywhere regs spawn (and outside towns/dungeons)

i found more on coasts but still find some inside land areas.

I did notice those black pearls too. When i started my bard here some weeks ago, i picked up regs from the ground. Lots of black pearls in that place, however they didnt stack and all where gone after a single spell.

Moonglow has had non-stacking black pearls for as long as I've played the game. I remember cursing them as a newbie back when we used to pick regs up off the ground regularly. Long, long before lrc suits were in game.

Just in case there's anyone else not quite clued up on this. It's not a good idea to return these items using a red char. The reward is cheaper prices from npcs. Not a lot of use on a char they won't sell to at any price

Those silly lil non stackin black pearls, [raining down after server up],
and esp. on the west moonglow coast, prob. on every shard, have been around
& buggy probably since, 1998 or 97 even.

Whenever I do see them though,
they remind me of when I first began playin UO
*back in the day* 1998, scoopin em all up,
as a broke newbie,
after server wars
and server up morning rain of nonstackin black pearls.

Even if they didn't stack, as a newbie,
I knew I could use em to up magery, to *recall.*

Now and then in UO, some morning rain
of nonstackin' black pearls returns enmasse,
& just as buggy as before,
landing esp. all over w.moonglow coastal area,
& still refusing to conform, to stack.

Here are a list of things that Willie and I have found. Bracelets, rings, bows. xbows warfork knife leggs kilts, neckless, maul. They can be gargoyle or human use. A few things I have found not to far from the shore but the majority are close. Willie seems to have the best luck for finding things. I have just hit rot in Forensics so if anyone needs something id'd while I am on let me know. I will be glad to help. Delores

I used to love getting 100 or so pearls in my pack and then casting a fireball and all of them disappearing. Good times.

DO NOT EQUIP OR USE ANY ITEMS. If you do it gives a "finders keepers losers weepers" statement and then the item loses its honesty tag and is then just a normal item. I have yet to find one thing that I'd even consider keeping. You'd think they'd made all the junk high end so people would be faced with keeping a maybe good item or losing it to the virtue. Even if it was high end CRAP it'd be nice to consider getting a frag vs the virtue.

I found three one moonglow, then none anywhere else in hours of running around, so I gave up.

I have found them at almost every spot they talk about on the UOHall forums threads. Sometimes Ill find 3 on some small island, the I'll recheck the same island for 4 days straight and nothing will be there, then on the 5th day i'll find 1 item there.

Best places so far that I have found is directly around the Magincia moongate area within 2 screens both in the folage and the costline. On Skull Island directly on the coastline, which normally you gate into 4 serpents or a few black wisps (don't suggest you go there unless your experienced and/or skilled enough to survive, buts the only place where once I got 4 items). On fire Isle walking completely around the isle coastline. And on Moonglow walking around the coastline.

It took me 10 items turning into the bankbox to get 1 dot.

So I tryed forensic Eval and when I realized I only gained off a corpse once or twice (even at 0-25 skill) I said screw this at 1.2 skill points and gave up the thought. You'd think eval'ing a honesty item would get you to 25.0 like everything else, but it doesn't.

I've been slowly working up forensic eval on Regina. She's almost to 40.

Does anyone know how much skill it takes to ID one of the "found" items to tell you both the town and individual to return it to? I'm not sure I'll have the patience or time to go looking for lost stuff, but if I can get her skill to a useful level, I'll be happy to ID stuff for folks.

IIRC, from one of the forensic eval things i read before, at 60 skill you start having a chance to identify it.
