Lost and Found fiction plot holes

Yeah, I agree... what the heck is up with those champ spawns? Shouldn't someone have put a blockaid around it? Perhaps some yellow tape?

I'm kind of bummed that Avery's and Ricardo's release were thrown away in one line of a piece of fiction that I don't even have anymore. How awesome is it to think we had left him in jail by accident for so long? It's practically tragic. You can't plan stuff that awesome... I was estatic to have such a juicy bit of story telling to build on. War hero forgotten... sets out on his own to try to put his life back together.... etc.

I'm going to move forward with Ricardo in prison (though I might try to fix the continuity) and Avery trying to put his life back together because I know it's going to be a good story.

Mark, as I stated above - wouldn't the easiest fix to Ricardo's situation, since he IS the only current tenant of the Prison other than the guards, be simply to have had something happen to him to cause his insanity (perhaps things man was not meant to know, discovered in his search for the vault, or an attack from the forces of darkness broke his mind), and that his residency there is a form of Protective Custody, not arrest? Hell, there's all kinds of story ideas you could go with that angle (including having to defend the Prison from someone sending an invasion to try to take or kill Ricardo).

But sadly Ricardo cracks under the pressure and confinement. Although no matter why he's there a guard would be another nice touch outside his door. Haveing an unlocked prison door and no guard makes no sence.

A thought that occurred to me: He's in jail, but he's not locked in jail. Is he hiding out there?

Hence my suggestion about protective custody. He's got free run of the place if he wants, but is so messed up he won't even leave his unlocked cell, and the guards are taking care of him. And, since the players were part of the investigation that eventually led to his rescue and Casca's overthrow, they'd be on the allowed visitors list as members of the royal militia, at least (just how many event sashes have been given out over the years???)

Hey, Mark'o'Mythic! Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to us, and for your honesty. UO's a long runner with an incredibly drawn-out and convoluted history; just from writing backstories for my roleplay characters, I know how hard it is to keep things canonical, especially if some elements have been better-documented in your "Bible" than others.

So I guess that one thing you've learnt is that there are still people who care about the storyline, and pretty deeply at that. I understand fully if the Little Book of UO History is classified information, but I'm seconding/thirding/#thing what people said below; if you ever need someone to nitpick some official fiction before it goes "live", so to speak, there are plenty of us here who'd be happy (and honoured!) to help out. Just, you know, sorting out gaps in the fiction, contradictions, stuff like that. I know I'd love to help, being pretty invested in the fiction, and I'm guessing most of the other roleplayers would as well.

Of course, most of the stuff you're dealing with probably is trade secrets, like Galen said, but just remember that we're UO players and there's nothing we like more than nitpicking, especially officially sanctioned nitpicking.

Instead of copping to the insanity plea I've personally decided as a thief he is simply doing what thieves do...running a con. Make everyone think he's crazy after jabbering off at the Cat's Lair tavern to the point of disruption with an ulterior motive. Works for me anyways *grins*

...by which I mean he'll steal him.

Maybe they let the wrong Avery out of prison the first time? Would Dawn even know what he looked like? She was on some farm and a Dragon came and picked her up to go to battle, someone said, "There's Avery, we got him out of prison." And they went into battle

Now that could open up allot of stuff. I can see even more why Dawn would feel sooooooo uncomfortable with the Avery situation. Also has the imposter been collecting Avery’s pay check all these months? What has he been doing with Avery’s position of authoritory? It would be an interesting fly on the wall story or live EM event when/if Avery catches up with Avery and his accomplices.
