I suggest not going afk right next to jhelom gate. Especially when you are factions. Next time I'll kill the dog too, so that it doesn't risk going wild. (Dead pets dont go wild right? or do they?)

also if you don't log out at server down when server comes back up you have a limited time before your pet goes wild dead or alive, all you have to do is log in and out and you can save it.
