yes if pulled over he would be cited for having drug paraphanelia in the vehicle....which is just strange because you can have a store that sells them along with water pipes (are they the same thing). The world is a crazy place... and I have a little place called meeb hut.....

This is not accurate, and yes I know your brother is a police officer.

This varies from state to state. In my state, water pipes, rolling papers and pipes are 100% legal. So are guns. Both however have laws governing their use and it is illegal to use water pipes, rolling papers, and pipes with any form of controlled substance. Just the same as it is legal to own a gun and shoot it all you want, but it is illegal to use it to commit a crime. Smoking paraphernalia in my state is only illegal if it is USED with a controlled substance. I could have a dump truck full of UNUSED water pipes, rolling papers, vaporizer machines, and pipes parked right in front of the police station for a year and the only thing they could cite me for is a parking violation.

Where do you learn how to do that? I would love to learn how to make that kinda stuff but have no clue where to find someone who would teach the craft. I have a nifty glass sword that I bought a few years ago. Would be awesome to be able to make that kinda thing in my garage.

Beautiful pieces btw.

Most community colleges carry a glass blowing class of some kind.

But if you have the money i just recommend going to a pipe shop that blows glass in house and have them teach you and then go and buy your own burners and kilm and play away... again i say IF you have the money. just the burners to twist glass with are very expensive.

Excellent. I will look into it when I have the time and money to play with. I am going back to school full-time, while still doing my 40+ hours/week as a network admin, starting January 14th and will be a bit busy for a few years. Thanks

Yes, doing the University of Phoenix online, so it's expensive as hell too. But there's really no other way for me to get my degree and I've progressed as far as possible in my field (IT) without one. The next step up for me is an IT Director spot and no company on the planet worth working for would hire an IT Director without at least a BS, if not an MS. I figure that if I just put half of the time/effort into school that I've put into UO, I should graduate with honors.

UOP is a great school, expensive is true, but accredited and well worth the time and money. I have two classes left before receiving my masters in nursing. You will definitely need to limit your time on UO for the next couple of years...

only if the pipe smells of marijuana, if it wreaks of pipe tobacco you would be fine.

Yeah, I've quit videogames for the most part since last summer... With school and work there's just no time to be able to hang out and also play, so I dropped the one that's less important to me. It feels really good to be focusing on something worthwhile and pouring in all my effort, though.

Out of curiosity, how many credits are you taking at once? With a forty-hour job and a full credit load, it's small wonder you won't have much time for UO.

A) It's not drug paraphenalia until you actually use drugs in it. Proving this requires a chemical test. Until then, those are "tobacco pipes" Yes you may be cited but it would never stick in court if the pipes are "clean"

I've been stopped at shows with over 400 pieces of glass and metal on display in my van, vehicle and body searched, and not once did they cite me for posession of drug paraphenalia. Why? Because they know someone selling those (legally, I might add) is not going to be stupid enough to carry even one thats been resinated with any illegal narcotic.

Obviously, YMMV depending on location. As most everyone knows, some states are have harsher penalties and consider certain things legal while others...don't. But I do know over half the states in our fine nation allow glass pipes to be sold for the purpose of tobacco smoking.

*edit* Rykus said it better. 9/12 for the win!!

I am replying to your original post!
I am glad you have spent your time in art of glassforming and blowing.
I be please to see some other items that you have made in photographs.
I have a certain interest in high temperature glazes. It is close to the
understanding of metamorphism of rocks and crystalline silicates deposits.
I do rockhounding, here and there in the US.

As for the rest of this entire thread...

HOW UNWISE!

ol. wwell, if I came here and showed pics of child porn, and people called me a dumb pervert, would that be any different? No.

[/ QUOTE ]

Please. Don't get me wrong, I think drugs are dumb, but they effect the user, should be legal. Child pornography on the other hand is not at all in the same league.
