Since someone's stealth attempt at using the facade of a "Search Site" poll was locked since it's phrasing led towards non-stratics approved topics. So with careful rephrasing I'm going to try and get a topic open that will with any luck remain open so we can actually discuss the benefits of EA/Mythic creating their own vendor search option for the players.

As I see it the not to be mentioned sites, though illegally provide a service that is in great demand among the player base. Anything as popular as this should be considered for a "Legal" implementation. My suggested way of doing this would be.......

A new option on the Quick bar on the 2d Client and a new Option in the Main Menu of the Enhanced Client. "Vendor Search". Use it an it opens a gump, listing all incarnations of an item on vendors, and it lists the Facet, and the Sextant Coords. Additionally there would be options for anyone able to cast Recall, Gate, or Sacred Journey to use those spells to Gate or Recall to the house the vendor is located in of course that falls prey to standard recall rules. After that they have to search all vendors at that house manually.......

Player will have to visit several to compare pricing if they desire, and no longer will Facets be a concern. This may in time reduce congestion and Lag in Luna caused by the fields of Vendors around the city, since regardless of location items would show up on the in game search. And before anyone complains I own a house in Luna myself and wouldn't mind. Additionally this may balance out pricing, since Luna won't be able to carry a premium since every vendor would be easily accessible with this method.

So as to the poll Vote either Yes I like your Idea, No I don't want a In Game Search, or Yes but I'd rather it be done like this..... and reply with your suggestion.

I like the ingame search, but it should be done in an ingame way with a UI window/gump available in each client giving the item, price, vendor name, house name, a general location (either Coords or nearest city). The access should be through an ingame interface (i.e. a bulletin board), not simply a "search button" in the client's UI.

However it's done, a search feature would go a LONG way in restabilizing the market as a whole and create a new dynamic that will be favorable to all buyers and sellers and not simply ONLY to the Luna sellers.

In-game search is a good idea. Don't care how it's implemented.

The search should give the facet, coordinates, vendor name, and price for every item matching the searched terms. The search should accept standard wild card type searches, ie. "faster*" should return all items with faster casting or faster cast recovery,"lower reagent cost ??%" should return all double digit items with that property.

There does not need to be a recall/SJ/gate option. Sellers need to lure buyers and provide free runes for return business like we did in days of olde.

I think I would rather have to go to a billboard that would be located in every city. Do a search with a similar interface as the BOD books with filters. With the option to be "escorted" there or get there on your own (coordinates listed by the vendor with the item). The cost of the escort could be a recall scroll, a few regs, and even some gold.

I voted against because I personally would not use it nor am I interested in the prospect. That said, because I have the option to not use it, if the majority wanted it then I wouldn't be objected to it.
