I had someone tell me that an EM said these Gems would be used for some purpose in the expansion. I'd like to say their only purpose is decoration, but if someone here would like to counter my assumption, please feel free to do so.

Our EM on Sonoma mentioned that one of the RP NPCs (Hawkwind or Minax or Anon) needed the 4 gems to open the new lands.

As for the player base, I think the gems are our souveniers.
