Less ninja mages now?

I'm still in the process of getting up to date...

so, Death strike requires hiding and stealth now? So that means there are a lot less ninja-mages? then there was say, a year ago?

My main used to be a ninja-mage. Even with my soulstones, my character is more of a mage than a ninja, would i have to buy two extra soulstones and train hiding and stealth for my ninja soulstone to be worth anything to me?

that pretty much tells me that switching to nox-mage wasn't such a bad move then. But since I don't own that many soulstones, and don't really plan on buying huge amounts, it makes me wonder if I should use them for other things... not taming or anything, but maybe scribe, or necro, or something like that...

The main reason ninja-mages fell out of flavor.

That and now dismount means you can't use animal form right away like before either.

Its still a good skill to use as a mage if your good at it. Mirror image is handy in the dismount/tamer ganks... stars and darts are great... ds has its uses occasionally... meh.


Might want to consider picking up a few other skills tho... I'm going to throw you a bone and say try hiding. Theres an 8 year old trick that maybe getting some new life soon.

Lol. Guess I should have done more research before I decided to get ninjitsu. I thought if dismounted you could insta-animal form? Guess not. The devs really try to do everything they can to make it hell on soloers huh?

I suppose this animal form delay is for bolas too?

I haven't played a necro warrior I don't think since before that change. It probably hurt necro warriors a lot too, no? That and the tactics requirement. And pure necros are unfortunately very weak whereas pure mages can still compete.

Yah, but I wouldn't think that would be a big issue unless I was fighting in animal form. I wouldn't be. I would be using it to get away from the dismount ganks...not sure they'd be able to bola target me as I'd be dashing away quick. However, if there's a delay to even go into animal form after you get dismounted/bolaed...that hurts a lot and I'm not sure if it's even worth it anymore, since I was basically getting ninjitsu for animal form.

The above fact, added to my being sick of replacing my SCNP warfork everytime I died, has caused me to train wrestle. I blessed a scrappers and have been hanging on to that. I imagine its still quite important to have a fighting skill for the defense chance alone? This makes my template a well-known and simple one...

I was wondering what skill would be actually worth dropping for hide? My point is that it seems like the best mage is going to be either scribe/mage or nox/mage - now using any other skills would be just diluting magery just enough that it seems better just to replace it with something else altogether.

You could always run anatomy instead of wrestle, you only need 100/120 anatomy/eval for the same defence chance as as 120 wrestle you will miss the specials from wrestle but you could take 40-60 chivalry instead for remove curse.

Or get a good scrappers with around 15 extra points in mage skills you could run (after scrappers skill bonus)

107 magery (never fizzle circle 7)
120 eval
100 Resist
120 Med
100 Anatomy
80 Poisoning
100 Hiding

Would only need +7 skill point scrappers to run that template any thing else could be used to raise resist or magery if needed.

Don't know about the rest of you, but when I get "dismounted" from animal form, it's the same as a 1 shot kill for me. Because by the time my client starts responding again, all I see is gray.

They're a tool of the gank squad, which already has power in numbers and does not need more. Yet the devs give them items like dismount and bolas. Apparently they think ganks should auto-win versus soloers, or there wouldn't be dismount.

So I started training ninjitsu thinking even if I don't like it, I'll need it to get away from the ganks. But now I'm not so sure. Can anyone tell me how long the delay is to go into ninja form after dismounted?

Don't get me wrong...I think speed animals forms are very powerful too and were the devs to do as I think they should and remove dismount and bolas from the game, so would speed animal forms need to be removed. But while dismount and bolas are in, why would the devs add a delay to entering animal form after getting dismounted, one of the best ways to have a decent chance at surviving the gank.

People wonder why everyone is in mass gank squads and so few are soloers. It's because with **** like dismount the fun in soloing goes wayyyyyy down.

What I am talking about is ANY time I come out of Animal form, weather it be by dismounting or of my own choice, my avatar COMPLETELY stops in mid stride, and is COMPLETELY unresponsive to any commands. The mouse pointer still moves around normally, but every thing else freezes.

This lasts anywhere from 3 to 30 seconds. And on occasion, it NEVER begins to respond again. I have to log out and log back in again to get things running again.

I have sent bug reports, and started posts here on the forums, and apparently others also experience this to some extent.
