Hello newbies
To those whom it concerns, I'm probably not going to be coming back to UO anymore to be honest. The arse counter has been rising, and finally I think its pretty much reached the 100%... I pretty much consider UO to be 100% arse. I've had plenty of time to ponder this; and as some of you may be thinking "why is this even relevant? He hasn't even been playing the game properly for like three years?" Whilst this is true, I haven't actually deleted my account or chars yet.
.... And so here is my solution. I am going to pursue one of four routes after buying and using a final month of game time further down the line: 1.) (probably the preferred method) Give away all my stuff and probably delete my chars. 2.) Just delete my char and give nothing away. 3.) Sell my account for a small price to someone. Or 4.) Chicken out and do nothing (unlikely)
Why do any of this you ask? Well, my char has sat there nearly dormant for three years. I've decided there's a very likely chance he will never really see the light of day properly again, and my estimates are that UO may well die not too far down the line. I don't want to see UO die without giving away any of my stuff away to people who could either use it in pixel land for their amusement, or just chuck it in trash bins (most of it is just amusing sentimental jokey objects).
The third option of selling... I'm only considering this because I'm pretty poor being a student and all that rubbish. Basically, I want to invest some money in something thats more productive and useful to me. I have been hugely put off video games due to living for a year with a video game addict (lets call him Mr A for privacy's sake) who literally can't look after himself due to the amount of time he spends playing games... its literally terrifying to see someone in such a subconscious state of reliance and obsession, and I genuinely feel sympathy for him. I currently feel this investment comes in the form of an expedition touring bike, because I want to spend a year cycling around the world. So basically, if I do sell it to someone, you can feel safe with the knowledge that the money is going towards funding my arse bouncing around the globe on a bicycle, and probably partially to a charity as well, as I won't be doing it without giving something back.
And if no one really cares too much, that's fine too. I definately thought it was worth trying to generate some interest over, though. I'll probably re-activate my account within the next month or two, and aim to close the account for good by July or August. I'll stick around on Stratics though, as I love coming here to procrastinate from work.
So basically, suggestions on what I should do, and whether anyone wants my stuff. I'd prefer to give some of it to someone that will look after it, crap or not.
