She quietly crept up the back staircase of the inn she had been using for the past few days, always keeping to the shadows.
Stopping at the door to her room, she carefully inspected it. Cautiously unlocking the door, she peered into the room. It was immediately obvious to her no one had been there since she had left early that morning, as all of her traps were still in place. She carefully stepped over the trip wire attached to the door frame; that trap would remain. The others she quickly dismantled.
Tossing the pack onto the table, she began the long process of examining and repairing her weapons before turning in for the night. She pulled out her two daggers, and inspected them with a practiced eye. The deadly poison she had applied only that morning was still in place, and the edge of both daggers were razor sharp. Her other weapons were in good repair, so she took one of the daggers from the table and placed it under her pillow, within easy reach should the need arise.
It had been a long night, and she was very tired. Her employer would be pleased with the information she had managed to obtain for him.
She had fulfilled her contract, and tomorrow she would leave to meet her employer and give him what he had paid for. Then she would return. She rarely gathered information unless there was a client asking for it. However, there were a few people who piqued her interest. She would stay for a bit and check these people out, purely for personal reasons. One never knew when some random bit of information would prove valuable.
Double-checking her trip wire, she sank tiredly into the soft bed. Almost before her head hit the pillow, she was asleep.
