Lead taming etc

Do you have any advice for how to tame the big critters without being eaten?
- Today I trained lead taming on frenzied ostards; worked well but I got hacked by a very angry bird quite a few times. If that was a Drake I would be history rolleyes:

Also; Taming using Honor to avoid being attacked.
- How long will e.g. a Drake avoid attacking you when you use Honor and how many times can you use Honor for each level of Honor built up?

What would be the best location to find a tame a Drake on my own for the first time?

Usually if the thing I'm wanting to tame is in a group of other things, I'll precast fireball offscreen, run in, and hit it so that it will chase after me before the others go agro, and when it's in a better location I'll start taming.

Each time you use honor you loose a dot, so make sure they're dot worthy. There is a cool down period of 5 minutes before you can use honor again.

A full Virtue armor set goes a long way to protect you. All 70s.
Peace can also be useful in taming mid range pets.

For taming drakes, and having a lot of space, you might want to try Valor Forest. South and then east of the Valor Shrine in Ilsh. Careful though, because there are other dragons/greater dragons that spawn there and some can even be paragons.

As for lead taming, it depends on what you are using it on. Not that, the range you must stay at for lead taming is not the same you need to start the tame. Once started, the range is actually rather far. Almost 4 tiles it seems for me.

The length of time that honor lasts depends on your level of honor. The higher the level the longer time you will have. Max level I think gives you around a minute. I think stratics has a time for each level listed somewhere.

A big thing with lead taming is about your gear though. Max resist suits are probably preferable, especially with casters as though they can't hit you they will fireball/flamestike/ebolt you.

What client are you using? There is a nice way to invis tame bigger monsters if you use the Enhanced Client. I am not sure if it is doable in the 2D client. It possibly is with UOA but someone with UOA and 2D would have to explain how.

I have been using this method though since KR was released, and it works beautifully.

If you're using the Enhanced Client, I can share my method with you. You may die once or twice, but for me its a lot faster. I have watched someone try to peace tame GD's and rune beetles for an hour where with the method I use, it takes me maybe 10 mins if the beastie is being really stubborn.

I for one would be very interested to hear your method, since I use the EC. I've got lead taming down with cu's but would like to hear your EC-based invis taming method with the magic casters.

Make friends with a tough fighter. He'll take the damage while you tame, and when the monster attacks you, just invis and repeat.
