Lava fish fishing

There isn't anything more sophisticated about lava fish fishing than using a lava pole on lava in the abyss? After burning through a half dozen lava poles in this manner on what I "thought" was a common rare fish and only getting the "you fish for a while and catch nada" message I have come to question

You got it. Just a lava pole in lava. I did try elsewhere besides the Abyss, but had no luck.

ok just tested the lava pole and all worked well,i got the lava fish on my 2ed pole, i put the fish on my roof so you could see. it has today date on it. im located on legends south side exit luna house the house with all the stuff on the roof
