Im curious if anyone else is trying out KR? It just took me 2 weeks of trial and error to download it before i found a program (xfire) that would download it and pick up where it left off if i lost conn. Im updating patches now for it. I hear the crafting part of it kicks but. Ill post what i learn from it and if i think its worthwhile. But im just curious if anyone else is using it and what they think of it.

I've DLed and installed it, but its kind of buggy. Might work better if I upgraded my system, but UO isn't worth the cost or trouble.

I started playing UO again because of the KR client. When I first started back I used the KR client exclusively. As time went on I slowly migrated to the 2D client and now I only play the 2D client. I rarely log into KR at all anymore.

Although there are a lot of nice improvements on the KR client I think EA went to far in trying to improve UO without taking into account a lot of the features that the 2D client offers. They also sent it out way to early. The client still plays clunky even after many patches.

You can't use UOAssist or UOAutoMap with the KR client. Those two applications are so ingrained into UO play I have a hard time playing without them. Although the KR client tries to incorporate some of the features of UOA and UOAM it doesn't come close.

I'm not sure why EA went to such extremes with the KR client. They could have started with upgrading the UO client in stages. Beginning with the interface (I really like the hotbar, and chat on the KR client). Then, after the interface is mostly bug free, work on the graphics gradually.

From what I have seen since I have been playing UO again is the same issues they had when I played it long ago. A lacking infrastructure that has yet to address problems on a timely basis. Also the length of time it takes for expansions. UO is still, to this day, probably one of the most unfriendly online games there is. It's a real shame to because it's also one of the most in-depth, immersive online games ever made.

still downloading the patches.............

What im interested in trying out is the crafting system. It sounds highly geared towards heartwood quests. As for UO itself for a 2d mmorpg to last thiis long they must be doing something right. Heck you dont even hear nearly as much about EQ or them other 3d ones then you did back in the days. Sure WoW is still running strong but with the easiness to lvl 70 a character whats the point in playing it.

At least EA is trying to keep us intrigued by adding these new things. quests, peerless things, and all that new stuff that no matter how long its out people still toy with.

the crafting is nice for Heartwood and bod filling since you can set it to make multiples of something. But you better have 100% success chance on what you're making, because if you fail, it stalls.

I found the targetting system both overly complicated and inadequate for what I wanted to do. I couldn't reliably vet a pet. I'd set it to bandage nearest friendly target, but targetting automatically shifts to any hostile that attacks you and I found myself trying to vet the monster while my pet died. Same thing applies to trying to heal a guildmate.

It urgently needs the ability to have both a friendly and a hostile 'current target'.

 Well I use the KR client most of the time and only log into the ML client when I need to make changes to my house for building purposes and such. My overall opinion of KR is positive yet the dev's still have some work to do to make it 100%. I actually like the graphics and the customizable interface. But I think they need to help those of us who won't switch because they've gotten used to UOassist or UOautomap to learn how to use the new macro system and UI system. A simple video showing us how to set them up would solve this. They could post a link to this on the UO site or stratics. I actually read the UO KR online manual and it only addressed the basics. The section discussing macros needs more attention. Just my opinion I really like the client and will stick with it I just can't do somethings until they fix certain things. :grouphug::thumbup:

Try the newest version of dermotts bitter black... keeps going after fail only stops when you burn out a tool. Also fixed the map centering :thumbup1:

It is a bit cloumsy you have to manually change the target setting on your hotbar (current self or cursor) or make macros. Taming macros are much better in legacy client but for dexxers/mages its good.

Yargetting yes needs to be fixed, hard to click ppl/monsters sometimes and the tab target would be so much better but it ALWAYS seems to pull up evs nfs and anything useless to target first =/

I dont think id fill bods without kr though, so much easier. And I do play KR for all functions. shrug, ppl just use what theyre most familiar with

the random crashing is the worst part about it. I've noticed that it crashes more frequently if I'm also running Vent.

In a nutshell, I thinks it still stinks!

This is up to and including trying the most recent patch. The legacy art mode made it much more tolerable but it still is unpolished, and rough. No matter what they have added to the interface in terms of streamlined macro capabilities, it can't offset the sheer eye wearying experience of interfacing with the graphics. :(

This is my house as of the latest patch this week. I feel like I'm guilty of animal cruelty just for riding my mare...look at the size of Skylark's rump!!! o_O

Same house in 2D:

Same house in KR with legacy graphics mode

i still say my favorite graphic in KR is the water effects for water and waterfall tiles from the house customization stuff.

Water and flame effects in KR are very nice, in addition to individual bits and pieces...but put together as a whole it is a big old mess IMO.

Yep you have some good points Skylark the pic does'nt do justice to the different shades of the mare and many other things. If they introduced the different colored mares in one client I think they should continue it in the next one maybe they will or won't but only time will tell. As for what your wearing in the pic. :smooch I think I'm in love. *giggles* :grouphug: Alright Cali :twak: I'll behave just after this one. :shots: Tex ponders what client does kelmo use do you KR ?

I almost totally forgot about KR. Hell I was a "lucky" one the the first to download it and I bet I have spent less than 1 hour playing it.

To be honest Tex. I never down loaded KR after I reformatted. I tried it early on and was ganked by invisible houses. I was one of the 3D boneheads and I still miss it.
