Ki-rin and Oaks spawn in Ilshenar

This weekend I got the Oaks spawn to the second level with my sampire and then went back in with my tamer, thinking that I could work up my skill taming the ki-rin. However, I got the message "You can't tame that!" every time I tried to tame one.

Just wanted to confirm that this is normal behavior and that tamers are not allowed to tame the ki-rin that are generated by the Oaks spawn, or in general can't tame anything that is part of a champion spawn (like hiryu in the Sleeping Dragon spawn).

Thanks jeza. Man, sure would be cool to be able to tame those critters at the spawn! Oh well, back to Grimswind Ruins I go!

the real pisser is given how rare Hiryu are, when you're working that sleeping dragon spawn in Tokono you actually see several nice colored ones spawn. And can't tame a one of them. I've never seen a wild hiryu spawn as colored... not once. Much easier to find a Cu Sidhe, with them concentrated in one area, they can't wander very far.

A while back, I killed tons of hiryu on Sonoma trying to collect all the colors of the hiryu. I don't think I ever did get the strong purple or strong green or ice blue to spawn. But I did end up with a few of the other colors (two agapite, two blue, one blue and yellow, one cyan, two strong cyan, one gold, one ice green, two light green, and one strong yellow) with semi-decent to decent stats and resists. (I destroyed the worst of the bunch as I went along.) Still have them clogging up my tamers' stables on Sonoma. One of these days maybe I'll go through them and give them away. I had hoped to train them first to make them worth selling but don't think that'll ever happen. LOL If you happen to be on Sonoma and want one or two, just give me a shout.

I agree, but I think the worst would be to see a blaze Cu and not being able to tame it because it's part of the champ spawn ...
I hope if it happens I won't be there to see it and will never know

Ive had that happen twice while at the spawn on my tammer, after it spawned it made me just want to leave

Yea had that happen on GL...the funniest part was me playing tricks on everyone.

I herded it all the way to the irk so it wouldnt be killed, then when everyone was finished with the spawn[no-one seemed to notice it spawned, assumed paragon i suppose] and all the spawn was mopped up i lure one tameable Cu to the irk and the blaze non tameable one back to the spawn area.

Should have seen the people running around trying to tame it...so much fun!
