It's funny. I don't know if I should blame the devs for the incitation to have several accounts : buying one game several times, as absurd it may sound (ok I'm gonna buy another copy of Morrowind because I want to try another template, guys). Or if I should blame the players for supporting it. Or maybe insult the players with great theories like the holyness of the limitation to one character on Siege, the necessity to revive a dead skill and to make it a requirement for a given template, the coolness of new skills, new powerscrolls, etc.
I remember when asking for more character slots (we had 5 and expansions were still adding more skills, races, etc), some players told me the game is about choices, I shouldn't be able to make them all, and it's an heresy that lead to everybody having a crafter mule, etc. In fact, it was just a bunch of hypocrites who didn't want to feel stupid after buying more accounts to be able to do it themselves.
It also says a lot on the occupation of housing lands. Not only there's more and more castles and empty spaces, but there are often several houses owned by the same player. How many players are we really?
