Just came back question about magery

I am trying to gain my magery to 110. Right now it's at 83. I was wondering if magery gains are still movement based?

Also can you still gain magery by using a -27 mage wand or does that no longer work?

I have been running around while hunting casting but gains are slow.

Q - Whats the best way to gain Magery?

There isn't a set way to gain Magery as everyone plays the game differently.
However the information below is proven to optimise your chances of gaining in Magery.

Magery Skill 0 - 30 = Buy this from a NPC
30 - 50 = Mixture of 3rd & 4th circle spells
50 - 65= 5th Circle spells
65 - 80 = 6th Circle spells
80 - 92 = 7th Circle Spells
92 - 100 = Mixture of 7th & 8th Circle Spells
100 - 120 = 8th Circle spells

Magery skill gains are not movement based.

Never tried the -27 Magery weapon trick, but it seems logical that if you could lower your skill from 83 to 56 you could cast 5th circle spells instead of 7th circle and use less mana, allowing yourself to cast more spells before you run out, which would in turn mean faster gains, I would think.

Cast more spells more often in your given skill range and the gains will come.

Magery spells are not movement based anymore, so train where you want.

Yes, dropping magery via the use of wands, etc will let you cast lower level spells and gain, a great way to save mana and train faster.

Make sure you wear a 100% lrc suit and if you can get any mana regen on it also.

As above, using a wand to reduce your skill does work, however even with a -xx wand the gains slow down a LOT at the high end... don't expect an easy ride once you hit around the GM-105 mark.

There is no more anti-macro code and no more 8x8. Just stand in place and cast spells. I have never tested it empircally,b ut subjectively, the -29 magery skill form the staff I was using while training made a big difference. It was taking me half na hour per .1 gain to get through my 90s. Then I picked up a crapy mageweapon for 2000g and it was done with in a few hours.

This is not the fastest way to gain magery.

Get to roughly 80ish by casting. Then find a 100% poison damage weapon that has the -xx mage weapon property.

Find jewelry to offset the negative magery penalty so you are still at roughly 80. Put on a suit of Stamina/Dex increase armor.

Get an arctic ogre lord and beat on that for a while. Each swing is equivalent to casting a spell. The faster the weapon the better, ideally you want to get to 1.25 swings.

hehe if your lucky enough to find the right 100% poison weapon, you can attack the golem AND cast spells for training.

Also a nice little trick, go to the twisted wield and attack a satyr. When it discords you, invis or exit/enter the gate quick and it will stop attacking you, but you will still be discorded a while, which lowers your magery even more. Just walk and stay with the satyr and train your magery with your wand equipped.

Not only will your magery be lower due to the wand, it will be much lower due also to being discorded. When the discord fails, repeat. If your lucky to find a paragon satyr, use that one, it will discord you even lower than a regular one.
