Hi all,
It's been several years since i have played UO and i posted here rather than the new player forum.
The Taming forum is myuo to me from the old days, as i loved reading up on the tactics of the taming skill.

In this vacent mind of mine, of clouded memeries of vast changes within UO, as i played the Char Grimwar, i recall i was a half desant Tamer.
I think Tamer's are a unique breed of folks who understand the art of blancing slills.

And now a question.
Are the normal Dragons, and i guess the Night-Mares still tameable by a char with 120 in Taming, Animal Lore and Vet. And is 120 still the max in skills.

Do the Soul Stones still work?

If i reactive an account ( most of my chars are in a bank on beatles in Skrae Brae) and 1 at my old house, which i guess is long gone. Is it safe to log in at Skra?

Old Times. old skills. and several players helping out, led to a commuinty i loved to par-take in, but one by they left. until Circe and I were just left.
And if Doomed Circe and I fell out, So i quit UO.

Weird i know and i still love Circe. but Circe and i were after gold back in the shard of Pacific in 1990 and i devoleped a few ideas.
#1 Invis Ring linked to a hot key, (insta invis) {Long ago removed}
#2 Tame + Teleport or later Tame + invis.
#3 The dis-mount and mount command linked to hot keys ( eg: arrow up and down ) very handy to remove a near death Mare (or any mount) which loses it's attack status and leg it out of there if you wish.
#4 Hide under your pet, This i tought was the best ever i tought up. So Simple but hard to explain. You have to watch your pet and when they stop, you move to the same spot. Now any re-spaned monster will auto attack your pet 1st. Also the Tab Key is a must as it will remove you from combat and have no reflective spells or armour active is a must.

It's 10 years since i was last in Europa and i Guess many changes since.

WW's used to cast mass curse and would then auto attack you if you near by.

1st post here in years, will i re-active old account or suffer the hours of aquiring what an old-account may offer by using a new account key?

Coooooooooor! Grimwar? You were around while factions were active and not long after Trammel opened wernt you? 10 years! o_O Nooooooooooo! I was an old naked tamer and naked thief on Europa. Names usually always ended in Paws with 1 or 2 exceptions.

Recent returner myself. Games changed! You missed Samurai Empires, Mondains Legacy, Stygian! Too be blunt, Tamers got pimped with pet love!

You can tame Mare and Dragon with 120/120
Soulstones still work
Skara is safe

We now have Rune Beetles, big bleeding poisoning things, Cu Sidhes that heal themselves, Grater Dragons that take 5 control slots and are REALLY stompy! Yup, Tamer lub ^^

Did you have veteran awards on your old account? Etheral Mounts? The ability too use an Ethy mount trumps new accounts :)

LoL you were a bad boy! To be honest i dident dabble in factions alot, but i do recall carring a Mage Hat (+5
magery) so i could cast a gate in 20 trys, as you werent allowed to heal or res other faction players.
The most chars i met in T2A were reds working of MURDER counts! And a naked tamer was a Very Char indeed. :p

Heck no i played Samurai Empires, and Mondains Legacy but i did miss the Stygian abyss, i think Mondains Legacy was about the the time 3D was interduced.

Thats good to know. but i guess the 2 best pets i love to work with, the dragon and mare are now a days weak pets.

I have tamed all off the above except for the Greater Dragon. 5 Control slots! thats the max as far as i recall?
Can you ride it? I'ed hate to walk arround with one of those all the time.

People still use all manner of pets. Too be honest, if anything, Tamers can have more 'pet choice' now depending on what they hunt. Though I still always bring out my fave pets on my tamer :)

Mondains Legacy was Elves, and came after Samurai Empires. 3D was Lord Blackthorns Revenge (who by the way, is now king of Britannia).

The greater Dragon cannot be ridden, and its silly and big and stompy. I dont own one, but at every event youll see a few of them. Silly stats!

Indeed. It's still fun to take my Bakes or my Nightmare on low level thunts, or my Mare to hunt lizardmen for leather, etc... My GD is my 'big gun', but one doesn't need a big gun in all situations. (I still miss my Frenzies, AoS did them in but good... but since I've been back I understand that now Raptors fill the slot of "fast moving murderous little b-stards". I need to find time to check 'em out someday.) About the only pet that never comes out is my Wyrm... I got one back in the day because "every tamer had to have a Wyrm", but I've never been fond of him.

And if your tailor needs horned leather, a decently trained GD make short work of Highland Boura...

Over the years, changes (nerfing) has affected the use of pets in PVP mostly. Taming is still very powerful against monsters.

Hi.
The ever quest of a Wyrm :D a dirty or a pure colour White Wyrm, is a sad decline of a once mighty beast.
