Items stacking : what gives ?

I was organizing some of the stuff I have and found something odd.

I have a number of Clockwork Assemblies which stack onto each other but some other Clockwork Assemblies do not stack together with the others.

I tried dropping them in various bags (different types, thinking it mattered somehow), tried dropping them on top of each other but nothing works. Yet, a number of them do stack with each other. Just not all of them.....

Same thing with Arcane Gems, some stack onto each other but some don't.

Power Crystals, instead, do not stack, period.

None of those I have stack with each other.

Besides the fact that I do not understand why of the same items some would stack but some other not, I do not get why Assemblies and Crystals which are used together to make Golems have Assemblies as stackable but not Crystals.

Am I doing anything wrong while trying to stack them together ?

Old items won't stack, ones that were created after they were made stackable will stack, in general.
Items are being altered to become stackable gradually, as there is time, or as people ask for them, or as the problems of stacking them are resoved.

Just use up the old ones that don't stack.

Alternative, if you don't need to use them, throw them away.

Yep, the old prepatch ones do not or often do not stack. Use them first. Good advice.
