(Item ID skill) Idea.

So what if having Item ID skill at say GM would enable you to control where the resists go from the exceptional bonus (20pts), If you want them to be focused in physical resist you could do so, or physical and fire resist. I think you get 20 extra resist on an armor piece if its exceptional. You could decide the fate of 2% resists per 10% Item ID skill. And maybe if you had GM item id skill you could even decide certain mods from runic kits.

It would lessen the wasting of resources when trying to craft something special.

What do you think? (if you at all understand my idea)

the best thing, in my opinion, for Item Id is to delete it. It has no real use currently.

thats right, they didnt even get the part telling you what the item will unravel to right..
alot of times it says things will be relics and they unravel to essence :(

How about Item ID tells you what a particular ingredient is used for?

eg: You ID Abyssal Cloth and it tells you it's used for imbuing armour with the Mage Armor property.

I'm thinking mainly the baffling array of imbuing ingredients but there's no reason it couldn't extend to enhancing materials.

I like that idea. Being imbuing allows you to do whatever you want, placing ideal resists on armor would work our perfectly. I think the skill should be useless besides for that reason though.

You can do anything in RP, the only limit is yourself. It's a lot like zombo.com in that sense. What's the problem with imbuing as it relates to roleplay?

Well for instance the RP community on europa has alot of pvp in it, but not just any kind of pvp, very pre aos like pvp where they dont alow for any magic equipment or artifacts of any kind, including imbued items.

it wouldn't be a useless skill if magic items actually said 'a magic katana' etc...

personally - i think we should go back to that...properties should be displayed upon paying a fee to existing item id NPCs as a service or to other players who have the skill...higher the skill, the more properties revealed.

I've said this from the beginning:

GM Item ID on your Legendary Artificer should give you a bonus (however slight) to imbuing similar to what GM Arms Lore does for your Legendary Smith or Tailor.

This would give the skill LEGITIMATE use in addition to telling us what items will unravel as.....

Also, a quick 2gp on tinkers. WHY can't they remove gears from the Music Boxes?
