:scholar:Item Bless Deeds (IBD) were a reward for something or other at the beginning of UO. You use the deed and target the item you want to bless. Once targeted the item becomes blessed. It works the same as insurance, but doesn't cost money each time you die, and once an item is blessed there is no way to unbless it. Each deed only blesses one item.

Since Insurance is a good gold sink(supposed to be - pvp removes 0 gold from the economy), I feel that if IBDs were reintroduced, they should only be available via purchase from an NPC banker for some huge amount of gold. 50m would be equal to 83k pvm deaths / 167k pvp deaths... so it would only be cheaper to bless something if you plan to die with it on you morethan that number of times....

Discuss or don't.....
(obviously this would not be for Siege Perilous or Mugen)

Actually if items would go back to being the way they were before they gave out those deeds, there wouldn't be a need for them anyway....

I mean the original bless deeds from before tram... not the personal bless deeds they gave out to 'early settlers' in AOS.
The item bless deeds that bless the item for everyone, not just one character.

{In before the except on S.P. post}

I vote yes...but 50 mil. is a little steep (IMHO).

...and i think he's talking about the clean up Brit. campaign

Anyway most of the item bless deeds available now are dupes, so why not make them available to everyone. Should cash it in and sell them on UO gamecodes.

I'd say no. But if they did only for a short time. This crap is making this game to WoW like. No risk to death it's stupid.

if you really do the math they aren't even worth it.
like the OP said, you have to die 83,000 times to pay for the bless..
even a clothing bless deed at 500k isn't worth it to me sometimes.
being that i switch my stuff around too much to care to keep them a long time.

also i bet my chars in their total life of 9+ years hasn't even hit 5000 deaths.
its like buying insurance up front and not even using it all.

I don't think so..... however I do want to have everyone have a personal bless deed again..... Years ago everyone got one as a reward...... now half my characters don't have theirs anymore and some never ever got them.... so I think it would be nice to give them out again..... Only be sure that every char only has ONE.

As for item bless deeds..... NOPE I think we should not have anymore of that..... the clothing bless deeds are MORE than enough ..... and insurance covers everything else.

sell them on UO gamecodes.
I like the idea of it selling for gold in-game better, this way it takes money out of the economy... even more than insurance.

P.S. it's not taking any risk out of death, you just take your losses up front.

No. We have insurance already with no limit on how much you can insure on production shards.

If there was no insurance, I'd say yes.

Yeah the deed came from the clean up britannia back when they were going from a point in the game when there was no item decay to the introduction of item decay as it is today.

For everything you tossed into a garbage can you would get a ticket and those tickets could be turned in for phoenix armor pieces and item bless deeds as some of the top rewards there were other rewards also but the bless deeds and armor were the most sought after of the bunch.

God yes! At least bring back the PBD per charactor, I lost some during the early days of the launch of AoS, and with the birth of 6th & 7th slots a PBD would be nice for them as well.

There should be an elimination of all bless deeds. You folks on the production shards have insurance, so if you want an item blessed, all you really need to do is insure it. On Siege there shouldn't be any blessed item imo...just sayin...la

I don't like the idea of having some guy show up dressed head to toe in blessed items.

Plus the majority of the people who would be able to afford multiple deeds probably didn't get their gold through legit game play, so why reward them.

Somewhat hard to understand. Item Bless deeds on a shard with insurance = minor benefit (even lowered by the fact, that Auto equip after dead does not function for blessed items).
Item bless deed on a shard without insurance = balance breaking benefit for those, who have it.

and most of the monster statues we have as vet rewards where part of the rewards also.

Legit game play=duping? They can just dupe the gold and buy it anyway so its better to devalue the duped deeds and if sometime down the line they fix all the dupes the money sink will actually work.

I voted no for the simple fact that if you can bless everything then why have insurance? How would that effect PVP and such?
I would like them to bring back PBD's, one per character would be nice.

Well, to be honest, it wouldn't really affect PvP on production shards much at all aside from getting less money per kill and them losing less money per death. But still, since we already have a way to keep items with insurance, no on bless deeds.

Now go back to around pre-UOR and early UOR, bless deeds had a purpose, being that there was no such thing as insurance and mages ran naked. I remember a guy running around with a silver vanquishing spear, blessed. Naturally, he never lost :p

I would say yes, and for a high amount of gold... just maybe not that high.

10m would be good for 1667 deaths, which is a pretty considerable number. At that numer, I'm guessing 10x the number of people would put them to use (because they could actually afford to do that), and it would seem more reasonable on a comparison to the value of most items. That would still sinc a ton of gold out of the economy (IMO), and wouldn't seem so high that no one would feel it was worth it.

That's what people are paying the dupers for them these days... It probably be less than that, I agree.. 5m to 10m, maybe 20m...
Had one of my members drop his suit to an opposing guild yesterday.. he had made a new mage to learn pvp with, and bought a new suit, and it was his 2nd time dying in the life of the character... forgot to auto-renew.
Wouldn't have happened with Item Bless Deeds.. :(

I say yes, because we need a gold sink.. But I wouldn't be one dumb enough to buy one.

However, I would like a PBD per char. That one bless doesn't make a huge difference, but it could be quite handy situationally.

I vote yest . 2 reasons .

1: gold sink
2: would make the dupe of current item bless deeds pointless (seems to be a never ending supply of them ) .

Also would like to have personal bless deeds again. for some reson i lost most of my ... :eyes:

oops very old poll lol

I guess on mainstream shards it would only save you a tiny bit of insurance, but it would be bad for the advanced shards. I wouldn't mind the AoS PBD being available on mainstream shards for every character (a la Siege Bless), but a limit of one item per character would be sensible.

I say make all items above 400 intensity Cursed. I think that would have some interesting ramifications.

IBD isn`t a very good idea since you have a little thing called insurance.

Rather pointless really.

BUT!!!
I want to tweak the idea.
I say one bless deed per year ...... BUT!!!
You have to do a super long quest that could take a week..
I want more to do. I don't want things handed to me.

perhaps...but guaranteed death vs OP'd skill sets and scripted explosion pot throwers just to lose all your stuff is also stupid

well .... people are already paying the dupers 50-70 mil for their item bless deeds . So what harm would it do to pay something to a npc as a gold sink ?

And aye there is insurance and yes it will never ever be covered . but if you have billions 50 mil dont matter much .. Not anything importent to me. But cant really see what harm it would do .

I agree that 50 million would be a little high. That is the going rate right now, though. And people pay it. I've seen 2 sell this last week. One was an item blessed bracelet, the other was the deed itself. However, there is a big difference between something that 2 people are willing to buy in Luna, and something that thousands of people would buy.

How about this: Production shards only: Armor bless deeds as a rare reward for high-end blacksmith BODs, weapon bless deeds on NPCs for 15 million gold, and item bless deeds as part of a new, yearly spring cleaning event?

When you're paying several million for a bless deed, buying one is NOT to avoid paying insurance. It's to prevent accidentally letting insurance lapse on a treasured, irreplaceable item. Like, for instance, if you've burned through 15 valorite runic hammers and finally made the perfect weapon. Or if you've found the perfect ring or bracelet. You're not going to pay a fortune to bless something mediocre when you can just pay 600 gold to insure it. I would probably buy a couple of armor bless deeds for favorite items if they were in the 5 to 10 million range.
