Is this a good idea for dropping vet?

I was able to acquire "the inquisitors resolution" gloves with 3 fcr, combine that with the ornament of the magician and i've got 2fc/6fcr. My build is a tamer/mage fitted for very high spell damage/low mana cost and high mana regen and good pet control. With the maxed out fast cast i can cast spells very fast, i can cast greater heals on my pet faster than I can bandage it, without the limitation of range and mana isn't an issue, neither are reagents since i have maxed LRC.

Would it be a good idea to drop vet and take up wrestling? I am using spellbooks for extra damage so without wrestle I am easy to hit, which I don't like. Ressing my pet isn't an issue because I always hunt with my friend who can rez it.

So consider all this, should I drop vet so I can get 120 wrestling? The way I see it I can heal it well enough with greater heal and my friend also has vet for backup.

I have a mage tamer with around 10 MR, max lmc, 120 med, 2/6 casting, basically everything you have described. I still carry vet, because against high damage mobs you WILL run into situations where you simply can't keep up, especially if you run multiple pets at a time. I can't see why, if you're using you're pet, that you should be taking much, if any damage, but I don't know you're playstyle. Personally, I'd keep vet and forego wrestling. If need be, get a Staff of the Magi or Staff of Pyros to give you a weapon skill for defense. Having some DCI on your suit can help as well. JMO.

Not an option for me, I equip slayer spellbooks for whatever i'm doing for the double damage bonus, most of the time anyway, if not I use a scrappers, either way I have to use a spellbook.

I play my tamer without vet and it works just fine for me

I didn't add wrestling to my template though but choose to go for Resisting Spells instead. I found that magic attacks were a much bigger problem to me then melee attacks. If you already have resisting spells in your template then wrestling is a good choice.

My Template:

120 Magery (+30 from items)
120 Eval
100 Resist
70 Medi (supplemented with plenty of MR items)
120 Spellweaving
110 Lore (+5 from items)
105 Taming (+5 from items)
15 Necro (to do lichform with items for even more mana)

What kind of magic attacks are a problem? I was under the impression resist doesn't really do much these days unless you're a pvper or you don't have a high resists suit.

Poison, paralise, curses (which includes most necromancy spells) and also bardic-attacks (satyres) can be fully or partially resisted. Against poison the advantage is most noticable; Without magic resist you will get poisoned every time the spell is cast on you. With magic resist you will get poisoned a lot less, depending on your resist skill and the casters magery skill.
I found magic resist really made a big difference in the survivabilty of my character; A little while ago, when the taming formula changed, I had to change my template. First thing I tried was to go without magic resist, suffice to say that experiment didn't last very long.

Melee attacks you can, for a good part, avoid by some fancy legwork. No such chance against magic attacks

compare single bandage use to both heal or cure poison vs two different spells to cast and get same.

Yeah I have resist on my tamer, it helps bump the cold resist on my luck suit! If anything magical decides to target me instead of my pet chances are it'll para/poison me then teleport on top with a pause! If I get targetted I want to be able to run away!! Resisting spells helps a lot with that

I agree with the above magic resist is a must have for tamer . Considering your unique situation of always hunting with another tamer/vet if i was going to drop vet would consider parry instead of wrestling . Wrestling is ok with the para and disarm but parry much more affective even at lower skill levels . Also a good shield will add defense chance increase which if i am reading correctly something your missing and may be the problem with getting hit too much .

Lastly i would not drop it , stone it and try your idea then you can switch back in case you want to play alone .

Carry swords of prosperity, a staff of the magi, or a staff of pyros for melee protection.

Does parry work with defense chance increase then? I thought that only effected your weapon skill with chance to avoid being hit. I have 30% DCI in my suit atm and I use a shield of invulnerability, could maybe even get it 45%.

Wouldn't wrestling be better than parry? 120 wrestle + 30-45% DCI means i'll dodge a lot of melee attacks doesn't it? Trying to figure out what I should have, either 120 resisting spells or 120 wrestling, remember that this is a tamer/mage template for Doom. I have 120 eval in my build also, couldn't i just ignore wrestling and get Anatomy to 120 instead for the same effect as 120 wrestling?
