If you noticed the did finally fix town cries, for now anyways. If you are not negative with the bane you should be fine. If you are negative with the bane why would you need a recall safety net? You started fighting with them and want the easy way out to ignore them?
I think its fine how it is, although they need to allow summons in invaded towns.
The criers have sort of worked for awhile...They just never turn them off after events. Of course....Anyone who pays attention to the game, and lore, and events, will know to be cautious. Plus how many people use the invaded towns on a regular basis?

They should simply have the capability to change a town zone into an "event zone" with the following rule changes
- Summons and field spells work like normal
- Recalling or gating there gives a warning gump (like Felucca does)
- Logging in there will teleport you to the nearest town (will prevent a few exploits and pet logging), can be just set to after XX number of time.

Only gating gives you a warning gump, and that happens anytime you gate to a non-guard zone. The logging in thing was in affect for the last invasion (or the one before that?) And I agree about the summons and other mage spells should work in towns during such times.
