If it is going to be a crafter only then train skills as a human, esp imbuing to 120 then convert to Garg for the imbuing bonus. The only thing my crafter wears is a 100% lrc suit and that you can make for your Garg with imbuing. Gargs can not ride pets but can fly.

Gargs have the jack of all trades bonus just like humans.
Mining is better for an Elf. Hard to do all crafting skills + LJ and mining on just one toon.
You always have to empty your pack animal before you log out, else it will go wild.
