Just cast and target. Course try for an orge lord or arctic ogre lord. Personally I like to get Titans as they move faster and cast alot.

No you dont have to beat it down like with taming. If you fail just keep trying. Sometimes the monster will resist the spell. Only thing that stinks is that they can't bond.
