Is there a list of places you can not gate into or to? I know Delucia you can't gate to. But I don't know of any others yet.

No gating in/out of: T2A, Dungeons, Heartwood/Sanctuary, Ilshenar.
I think also the faction bases, but someone else would have to verify that.

Yep, no gating in, or around the faction bases.
Sometimes, at west brit bank, if you are standing over next to the castle walls, you'll get the no-gating message because you are near the TB faction base, but just move east a few steps and you'll be fine.

you can gate to just where the bases begin, so around yes in no, but your prob more interested in the other stuff....

being new to Siege how do I know where the bases are and do they ever change locations?

They don't change, and it's not a siege thing, it's a faction thing. There's 4 factions:
True Brit's base is Lord British's castle in britain.
Council of Mages base is the SE corner of Magincia.
Minax base is in the mountains SE of Skara Brae.
Shadowlords base is the Yew crypts.
You can't enter the bases at all if you aren't factions.

Are factions/bases on regular shards Felucca based only? Thinking about the whole Sherry the Mouse fiasco, I am guessing that something unique about the faction bases on Siege is that there is no access to Castle British for anyone not in TB. (Either that or the 1 char thing made it just totally impractical for anyone to join that faction just for an event, which would have been an option on regular shards.)

Yep. There was much consternation on u.hall during the sherry the mouse event for that reason.

Don't get me started, TB should NEVER have been put in what used to be *our king's palace* and by doing so they shut out Lord British's from all of us, no matter that there was a mirror of it tram side, not the point. None of the other factions should sit cozy, IN downtowns either..ie CoM.
Anyhow on Chesapeake Sherry the mouse showed up in the trammel copy cat of the original real Lord British's Palace, but of course on a shard like Siege she landed in the ONLY palace of the king..felside is the only one.
Meh !!
TB's shoulda been slapped outside town up by the ore mtns somewhere, they coulda created an entire cool base for em up that way like they did for Minax in the end.
*nor should CoM been put in town either *not even on that isle too puny or at least stuck em over in a base compound stuck on the isle in the jungle* lol Totally weird how they did that ..so then why didn't they give shadowlords the yew winery if slapping 2 out of 4 factions IN town ? lol pfffffffffft keep em all OUT of public downtown buildings I say. But they didnt do it that way, natch.

Oh speaking of gates/gating, since ya may not know, there is a red moongate in downtown Brit near the King's palace. If ya run thru it you end up in Serpent's Hold downtown. There IS one in the armory warriors' building (often used as big counsellor hall on many Serp. Hold isles), far northwest of town, to get ya back to Brit.
I did not see that when I first came here, accidently ran INTO that moongate in downtown Brit, and landed in downtown Serp. Hold. But I could not find any moongate OFF or so I thought...so I paged a gm they told me I was not stuck there.
The GM offered me no explanations, I kept looking for some public moongate OFF Serp. Hold but apparently ignored that one public building thus never seen the gate back. Since a GM told me I was not stranded nor stuck there, I assumed he meant ........the long hard way off, thru fire dungeon to the lost lands to papua to finally get back to Moonglow etc. So I took that route !! OoOO was new here. Found out a week or so later DOH there is a gate off serp hold as well as the one TO it.

LOL...I did the same thing, but it was fun in Serpent's Hold. Then I went exploring in Fire (ooh, cave thingie!) and got PKd.
(I was new to UO at the time I was new to Siege, so I didn't have to unlearn anything really).

I beg your pardon, but we serve the lords will.......also faction bases have been moved in the past as when it first began one was in the lost lands. It would however be cool if they would move minax base to blackthorns castle in brit.

IF I recall correctly WE pkd the KING ! Then he wussed out went invulnerable and created this land mimacing the true world with some copy cat mirror imaging, called TRAMMEL, then left the realm entirely !

Aye long long walk when I was newer here but not new to UO thus I knew if I enter the vile fire dungeon thingie it would take me right into the happy jaws of the lava lizards lost lands ...but not exactly what I had in mind to get OFF Serp. Hold.
Heck I even traversed all that kept going to *tour* the snowy artic isle ...never knew they were all connected but they were when I walked it from fire dungeon to..assorted other dungeons to daggar isle even..*or one can hop off and just get to the lost lands * but nice that there IS a moongate off Serp Isle here..I didnt know that when I first got here.
