Is it time for Trebr to stop making polls?

at least trebr polls are more positive and open minded than most the treads and rather I agree or disagree with trebr at least w dont slam each other over it... I say bring them on I love polls ha...

A heap of polls may be annoying but they gurantee one thing... people can give a yes or no answer and post a reason if they wish. Much better than threads going in circles with no clear indication of whether the majority agree or not

I have no opinion on the issue of Trebr's polls.

I do, however, think that what you describe is a negative, not a positive, of Stratics polling generally.

A Stratics poll tells you nothing about how the majority feel about anything, save for the "majority" those who have chosen to respond. And in terms of broader opinion, that's more distorting than enlightening. This is an issue in RL polling, which is way more scientific than a Stratics poll.

Further, even if you have 40 options, polling is by definition and design limiting one's choices only to whatever those options are. There may well be dozens more ways to deal with the issue, or even only one more way, and it will still by definition be limiting and distorting.

If people really look a Stratics poll and extrapolate from it to any kind of broader audience? And from the options to any kind of range of options actually available under normal conditions?

Then this is bad and all I can really do is hope that the team are not among those who do this.
